Why didn't Obama choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate?

Whats wrong with leaving it behind to take the challenge and go into some 1-on-1 town hall meetings and proving he can answer questions without a script? He's running for President, he cant stay behind a teleprompter for 4 years. Why is he a no show on this?

I can't figure out why he won't do it. To me, Obama comes off as really smart no matter what the format is. Maybe it's just that they didn't want to concede to the McCain campaign because they were still ahead and hence in a position to dictate the "battlefield". Maybe they haven't changed their decision since because it would be an admission that they're not in the lead anymore? Who knows.

Maybe Obama fears that the risk of uttering a bad soundbite outweighs the loss of face from declining McCain's challenge. He's an enigmatic speaker, but has to choose his words very carefully to avoid having his accidental phrasing distorted, as happened with his "muslim faith" gaffe recently.

If that's his worry then it's unwarranted, IMO. I mean, he might say something stupid, but McCain is just as likely to say something stupid, as the other day when he said that the economy was fundamentally sound.

The frequent input of the "USA Haters for Obama" is the kind of endorsement I hope catches notice of those who can actually vote. Good work.

Only an idiot would vote for Obama. He is all talk and no action. Clinton should be running for pres now not Obama. McCain would wax Obama in a debate with no script. Obama lacks the intelligence to an unscripted debate. He will not answer the question on key issues but will ramble on with catch phrase after catch phrase.

There's several reasons I can think of. Here's some:

    1. Clinton has high unfavorable ratings and would have helped to boost Republican enthusiasm.
    2. Way too much baggage. Too many scandals. Bill Clinton would have been a distraction.
    3. You know how McCain tried to use Biden's words in the primary against Obama? Can you imagine how much material they would have had to work with if Clinton was the VP?
    4. I believe that Obama thought that Clinton would have been a distraction as VP as far as actually Governing. Unlike McCain, Obama actually put his country first with his choice. He chose someone who he thought would be a help as VP. He didn't choose Biden purely for political reasons like it's obvious McCain did with Palin.

Furthermore I'm not too concerned at this point about Palin helping McCain. Her unfavorables are shooting through the roof as people learn more about just how ridiculously unqualified she is not so much because of her lack of experience but because of her lack of intelligence and her obvious ignorance of the world. She's also got a lot of baggage. At this point I think she will hurt McCain more than help him. As she should. It's insane to me that anyone would even consider voting for McCain after he made that horrible choice as his first "executive decision." It should disqualify him for even being considered. Seriously. That's how bad that choice is. It's sad to me that there's so many people who just don't see what's so incredibly obvious: Sarah Palin isn't even close to being qualified to be President (and yes that's the criteria for a VP selection.)

I don't want the president to learn on the job, the president should be ready to lead from day one, not need a training course.

John McCain apparently needs a training course on where Spain is. The dude is senile. And as far as needing a training course - have you listened to Sarah Palin's answers on just about anything? She is completely ignorant. It's crazy that any right winger would even bring up such an argument considering who their VP is.

The real answer to OP's question is......drumroll please.........
If the Obama/Clinton ticket won, Obama would mysteriously be assassinated his first week in office.

Only an idiot would vote for either of the 2 candidates. They both suck. I guess if someone stuck a gun to my head and made me choose, I'd say Obama. They're both awful though. Sad one of them will be president. Sad GW won 2 terms. Sad.

Then how in the world the republicans have chosen their best man McCain who can't even send an email to run for a president?
Most people have been using computers for more than a decade, wonder what excuse McCain has about not using a computer ... ... in the 21st century?

We have one stupid president (from the republican party) internationally recogized as such for 8 years. During his stay in the White House the American ship has hit an Iceberg, which is estimated to cost about 1.5 trillion dollars to America. Not to mention all other damages done to America who the "blind" Americans can't see.

You still want to vote for McCain?
