I was thinking, I'm sure a good amount of people started up their first website for a reason other money. I opened I Heart Paws (www.IHeartPaws.com) when the pet forum I went to unexpectedly closed down. It was sort of thrown together at first for the 20 or so members (who I consider friends) to have somewhere to go and I'm still trying to work everything out 5 months later... but it's really turning out nicely. Of course currently we make NO money, lol... but hopefully in the future that will change. I am just happy to have a resource for pet owners to educate themselves and get help with problems. So, why did you start up your first website?
Made a wrod doc and then asked word to make a html file. Buy that was Nasty, it adds lot of junk to the web page. Now, Just type in a note pad. Thanks
hahaha, why dont you shut your mouth. Unless your gonna contribute-shut your gap! I started mine as a company site so i didnt seem weird.
Started a site because I wanted to share things with people and it ended up turning into a source of income a few years later.
I flopped my book report on a free website so i wouldn't lose it. 2 hard drive crashes when i first REALLY got into computers taught me that they weren't reliable, I surely didn't trust the floppy disk I had it on originally with as easy as it was to crush those in my hands... hehe.. The site actually got spidered by some search engines and did better then than now! It grew up to become a free resource on art history. I use it to play around with and test new things and mostly have fun with it.
I pretty much did the same as the guy who put his Netscape bookmarks online. Except I figured other people might like what's in my bookmarks too. www.goodersites.com
I opened up www.pure-dvd-world.com (The content needs updating) because I am a fanatic for movies! I love them I watch them all the time! My best is horror
I opened up a stupid little dollsite when i was like...13?? 12 1/2 something around there. it used basic html and i did it with my best friend erin who got me into it. i think i can find the links of my first 2 lameass sites. www.geocities.com/dadizlilgrl08/frames.html and www.geocities.com/bbgrphix45/layout.html ok you can see how totally and uterly lame they are...but i was 12. for like 2 years i worked on different doll sites, just tons and tons of geocities accounts. then my last doll site, which i closed about a month or so ago, because it got pointless...was www.yummiesplash.net/wp/ but im glad i started out with that, it let me have fun while learning tons of skills and meeting tons of people to help me. its where a lot of little kids learn basic html and coding...from doll/graphic sites.
meh heh heh I started a website 'back-in-the-day' using MSN Communities http://groups.msn.com/apostoliczone So funny to look back at that...so terrible...
I started getting into surveys as a way to make money in my spare time and just took it one step further. I'm really getting into it and want to put up some more (unrelated) sites once I'm satisfied with my current one.
I must admit that I started my first website to make money. Back then someone told me that I could make a website, put google adsense ads in it and when people click on them I'll get cash and live happyly ever after. Once I launched my first website about Britney Spears (cuz I hear that the more popular is the topic of the website, more people will come to visit my site ). And then came the visitor stats.....
wow , thanks to this thread i just looked up and saw that my first ever website ( made in around almost 8 years back. It was on a free geocities account with a redirection url , and it still exists . It was a picture gallery of sorts , made out of my fascination for Bollywood actress , capped from movies.
