Why did the Keyword Tracker stop working like 5 days ago?

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by bkleinhe, Apr 22, 2007.

I've used it for the last two years, and about 5-6 days ago it stopped working. Guess I will have to start spreading the word that this tool has died. Maybe the owner got sick of the server fees. It's not working for any of my blog readers either. Before I blast it out to 250,000 people a day I thought I'd try and get an answer here, is it dead or is there plans to fix the keyword tracker?

    thanks

    Brent

I realize this tool is free, but when it stops working, doesn't anybody care to fix it? Just another dot com with no support, no updating, just a nice free tool. I'd rather pay for this service and get some support.

    WHAT?

Oh crap. I just searched hundreds of gigs to find my API key. I entered it into DP a few hours ago and I was wondering why the keywords are ranking as N/A .....

Is it actually dead, or just down for a while?

Susannice, has it not worked for you for a year, or was it just down for a while and worked again?

Rank for all of them was N/A.

    But...!

I just tried adding www before the URLs and now it works.

    HEW YEAH! ... SWEET!

Does the keyword tracker need the 'www'?

Or does this behavior mean my sites rank great with "www" and terrible (N/A) without it?

    thanks,

I think everyone is missing the point...if the tool worked for 2+ years and then one day it doesn't work...it's not the users fault. Something changed to stop the tool from working...and it's affecting a large number of people.

I got it working again...the advanced script I had hosted on a domain that I sold. So it seems that it was my fault. My apologies.

FYI: In the last few days, Google's SOAP API has gotten even more flakier than usual. I run a home-brew keyword tracker myself and have the same issues that DP is having.

I.e. problem is on Google's end and they haven't really supported the SOAP API that much ...

Relieved, to read your post, hulkster. Tracker has been working for me until night of April 29th. Later than night I found all our sites down which I thought explained the problem. It seems our host moved all our sites to a new server that night so I blamed problems on the move.

I use SEO for Firefox extension. In addition to having this keyword tool stop working on digitalpoint, the SEO for FF thing has died too. They both probably use the same APIs with google.

So I'm still hosed as far as I know. on both fronts.

Back to normal today for me. I really appreciated hulkster's posting since it saved me hours of trying to figure out what had happened. The coincidence of our sites being down at same time I had trouble with tracker nearly led me down primrose path. I would have bet something did not get set up on new server like on old.

I'm also seeing better behavior from the Google API on my non-DP application ... so guess the big "G" fixed things a bit on their end.

    - my advanced script is still in place
    - my old Google API is still in place
    - my domain name entered in the account is still the same (includes www.)
    - the only page rank reported at all are a few MSN ranks, that are mostly correct when compared to a physical lookup of the keyword

google and yahoo are both totally dead, MSN is erratic... it's convenient to blame the malfunction on google because they don't claim to support the old SOAP API anymore, but I've been tracking in all three engines and at one point last week, I got a totally empty result set, N/A across the board on every keyword.

It will be a shame if this tool is going extinct, but it'd be nice to know, before I invest time and effort in another option, if that's my only recourse...
