The site for which you are applying must be atleast 6 months old for the publishers from a few regions..
If your's is a new site, you can expect a declined application.

The problem with AdSense is that for a long time, they accepted to many new publishers into the program without checking the quality of their sites, this lead to a lot people placing AdSense on sites that were low quality, duplicated content, didn't follow guidelines, MFA etc etc.
To save Google running around with the ban hammer in full swing, they have become more selective on who gets accepted into their program.

Use this "waiting" time to better your site by adding more original content, re reading the AdSense Terms and Conditions and the Google webmaster guidelines to make sure your site adheres.

    Cheers
    James

You could try adding some clickbank affiliate banners to your site while you wait. They income from them will probably be about the same as adsense, it just won't be small daily income and instead will come in chunks when the affiliate products you promote sell.

Other than that, just have to be patient.
