Why Did My Blog Posts Stop Ranking?

I started my first Wordpress blog about three weeks ago. I've been carefully following all the instructions I can get my hands on to try to optimize everything. When I make a post, I get instantly indexed on Google, like within seconds. (I always do a site search to check) I'm not indexed on Bing yet and only a couple of my pages are indexed on Yahoo.

I was very encouraged when, after the first couple of weeks, a couple of my blog posts were showing up on page two through five of the Google search engines for my keywords. The problem is they seem to have suddenly disappeared. They're still indexed by Google (I did a site search and I still see them), but I can no longer find them in the search results.

I have a static home page and I'm still showing up on page two for the keywords I'm trying to rank for for that page, but I'm doing all of my blog posts on a "blog" page, which is what was recommended to me. As I indicated, I'm no longer ranking for any of the keywords on my blog posts.
As I indicated, it's a new site, but my concern is that I was once ranking in the first few pages and now I'm not.

Is it possible I've done something wrong or is this common with a new blog?

    Thanks

Without a URL it's hard to say...

It could be that your blog's Google honeymoon is over. They often show the URLs from new sites in the SERPs on page 1... sometimes even position 1... even though they don't legitimately deserve to be there. They give them a big boost for whatever reason for a short period of time... sometimes days... sometimes a few weeks. Then they disappear and fall way back into the SERPs where they should have been ranking all along. It is at this point that the Google honeymoon is over.

Just continue to build links to each of your posts...

Thats something really astonishing!!! i think this is because of some changes which Google might have undergone. It happened with my sites too, but constantly doing SEO would definitely get you back where you were and also since many users were looking out for that information which you were posting.
