I don't understand that I won't even think about using Bing to search anything. I don't even know when is Bing created or name changed...

It can't really compare to google.. my site indexed well in google but super bad in bing.

Bing was obviously created for competitive reasons. It's like why share a slice of the Internet pie with Google when Microsoft can bake the entire pie by itself?

Only on DP can you get the same answers repeated over and over again for years. What a great forum!

Back to Nov. really isn't that bad for dredging up post from the past on DP. Microsoft wants any share of the market it can get. Imagine what even a tiny fraction of the marketing dollar on a search engine can bring in as revenue for a company. But, also consider that Bing had to or chose to merge with Yahoo Nov. 2011 in order to gain a more competitive edge. Apparently, their current revenue, results and users all needed a big Yahoo of a boost.

Microsoft loses $500 million/quarter on Bing. Someone else said a billion per quarter but I thought I read it was half that.

You will find that most companies who dominate a particular area will get competition from other larger companies to prevent the monopoly effect e.g. apple iphone / google android, google search / bing search. Apple ipad / kindle
