Feedback Why did I receive an infraction for trying to help members of digital point?

I just got an email notification that I got an infraction for a post I made several months ago. All I did was post a link to a sales thread on another forum where the seller was posting the same domain. I was trying to warn potential buyers that the content had been copied and the seller was banned on another forum! He even went as far as trying to impersonate another member from that forum here on DP, and for some reason I got an infraction for this. Here are the details from my infraction email:

    > This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

As a community I would think it is better that we look out for one another, and not penalize someone for trying to warn others of a scam.

Looking at your infraction it appears to me you were hijacking the thread both by commenting (i.e. you weren't asking any questions relating to the sale) and by posting a link to another forum. I don't know about you but if someone just slaps a link down without explanation there's no way I'm going to go read it.

Edit: btw, I wasn't the mod who gave you the infraction but I agree 100% with the mod who did.

Sure I could have elaborated a bit better, but is that really worth an infraction? I am pretty sure hijacking is when you post something that is completely unrelated to the thread, which I did not (I have run several forums before). Also the post was like 8 months ago! Do the mods have nothing better to do then go through old posts like this and give people infractions? If anyone actually read the link they would see my intentions were good and its not like this was my first post here. I have been a member since 2006.
