Why did I receive a warning for a simple question?

I received a warning yesterday for a post I made few days ago. Basically all I asked the OP was - If you found a good php programmer, please PM me his details as I need someone for a quick modification of php based script. DP of late is full of incmpetent noobs so want to be sure. Thanks
While I could have PMed the OP but I think it serves better purpose if someone could publicily acknowledge a great worker.
On top of that someone made a flaming post as a reply by pointing grammatical mistakes in my post which I simply chose to ignore. I did not see any warning to the poster or post removed.
So can someone please tell me what is so wrong in asking OP for a recommendation?

Your message was just for the OP, so it should have been via PM. From the rules:
(It's in the "Pointless Crap" section.)

They have the right to do it, because that sounds like a spam. Besides you can find some good php programmers in oDesk

You were trying to bypass the "established member" system by hijacking the thread of someone else. You anticipated that people wanting to apply for the OP's work to also apply to you.
