They understood that if power was concentrated in a few hands the results can be disastrous, and unlike some people on this thread they were on the most part god fearing and no puppets who believed that whatever the government said was right. We were blessed to have a group of individuals that wrote the constitution that were far ahead of their time. Granted there were some laws that were very primitive like the 5/3's law that stated it took 5 black people to equal 3 white people, that was later taken out as people started to let loose from their shackles of ignorance. @NEW I agree with you on that denying the holocaust shouldnt be a crime. Having served as a Planning & Zoning commissioner in two Texas cities, I can assure you that being plain spoken isnt universally appreciated by those that ask stupid questions and/or make dumb proposals (especially consultants and city staff)... but it was damned entertaining.
