Yesterday I had about 7 times the amount of page impressions I usually have and the clicks and page ctr increased accordingly, but the visitors was the same amount than it usually is, and today it seems it went back to the regular average, and I'm worried since I don't understand why would this happen. Why could this be?
I wouldn't be too worried about it. I see pretty large variation in CTR, sometime 300-400%. Of course, the lower the traffic on a site is, the more the CTR varies. If you usually get 2 click and one day you get 14 clicks, no big deal. If you usually get 200 clicks and one day you get 1400 clicks, that might be something to look into.
It is somewhere in between those examples, ie, if I usually have 90 page impressions, yesterday I got about 600, could this be normal?
pau, Have you checked your hosting stats? The reason for the surge in impressions could be due to getting linked to from a high traffic site or blog. Edit: Hmm, ok, so I just noticed after rereading your OP that your traffic levels were the same as before. Often, when there are spikes like that in CTR it could simply be that google's adsense program does a "click dump". Apparently, that's where some of the previously audited clicks on your account were miscalculated by the system and they get added back all in one day. I've heard of it, but it's never happened to me. K
The awstats showed the same average visits as usual but a certain increase in the amount of pages and an increase in the hits of around 3 times the usual.
