There’re many search engines out there but everyone seems to stick on google. Every webmaster in these days seems to be emphasizing on google in particular while neglecting many others like YAHOO. Why is it that they optimize their business in search engine and yet succeed effectively with their SEO?

Ignoring Google is like filming a show and ignoring TV... just doesn't make sense. The more important part is that most of the other search engines follow Google's lead, or directly use Google's results anyway. So what you are doing for Google, will only help you elsewhere.
Google is boss. Either way you are using them, or somebody affiliated or under them. If you're not with them, you're against them. I don't see many activity against Google that gets far.

The reason very straight forward, just because most of the internet user are using google search and google search can generate more traffic compare to yahoo or bing

If you optimize for Google almost all the other search engines will rank well by default. Just considers the others as free candy and put your effort on the big guy.
Yeah, I'm agree with all of you. Almost everyone using google as their search engine. So what's the point if you have #1 rank in yahoo but no one search your keyword in Yahoo ?
Most people take Google as their first choice when they want to serach something on Google. So we can generate more traffic from Google than from other search engines. And since so many SEOers know Google is the biggest traffic resouce, the competition here naturally raised up, get a good rank is so difficult nowadays. - -"
