Why Can't It Be Done?

So I made a post about the suggestion, which I've seen has been made several times after searching, about eliminating PM spam by limiting post limit. I'm just curious, Why?! I want to know if you guys ever expect to eve consider this, OR, what you guys will do to prevent this spam.

If you must, give me an infraction, but it would be total BS to do so. If the staff has already discussed this, please link me, as I didn't notice anything in the 36 pages of search results :/ But I could have skipped it.

I know DP is big, and recently got sued for their scam, but there's no excuse for trying to clean this place up.

Hey, here's something new. Why don't you try to BAN IP ADDRESSES! Yea right though, you'd never be smart enough to consider that, as I'm sure it's been suggested and, of course, rejected before.

Now I'm sure you mods will sigh at this and close it....with no explanation, right? Let's see if you do, which would be total BS.

PM spam is a problem. But if your not expecting any PM's or the user doesn't have apost count, Then why bother to click? If your bothered about phishing attempts, Then mouse over the link. (Or just close)

Sure its annoying, but if its bugging you about your email notifications, Then why not turn them off?

As for your suggestions about limiting post count, here's something to think about:

Limited post count means that people will create pointless posts just they can reach the minimum limit and then spam. (Posts such as "HEy thats a great idea" "Thanks for the info" "Awesome post". This gives the mods more work to do as they then have to delete the posts (should they be delete worthy) Then go around and find the possible spammer.

At the moment, if we get spammed. We forward it to mods. It's not hard and only takes a moment.

Also as for banning IP addresses, That doesn't really solve much. I can refresh my ip every day if i like. (EVen more frequent if i really wanted to.) Many other peolpe are the same. Plus by banning ip's some people share IP's for whatever reason. (Their ISP, college/uni students, etc, etc) Or imagine if you got assigned a new ip and that IP happened to be banned here at DP, Would you be pleased? (I'm gunna go right ahead and guess no)

Also they can just proxies to create new accounts. So banning by ip doesn't exactly help

Hopefully that answered a few of your questions dude. Spam is part of the internet, maybe thats just the way i see it.

Don't let it get you down,

    All the best

I see you're too much of a punk to post under your main account (which is now banned), loser!
