I'm sorry guys. I subscribed to the thread, and never got an email notificiation. Here is the link to my site: http://tinyurl.com/2oluq3 So basically what everyone seems to be telling me is I should apply to some CPM site? Makes sense. Also, these traffic figures are legit as far as I know. Per Awstats these are uniques, not just impressions or visits. If you want to talk visits. I'm at over 300,000 a month.
CPM all the way, without doubt. Try both ValueClickMedia (preferred) or failing that, RightMedia/RMXDirect - 8k visitors per day should generate you a hell of a lot of page views... Even if you only have a CPM of, say, $0.30.. and each of your visitors views only 3 pages on your site each... with 3 ad spots on each page, that works out at $21.60 per day... $648 per month.
Someone said I should remove my ads before applying to ValueClickMedia? Any true to this, and if so whats the reasoning behind that?
Check their guidelines. I'm surprised you get that many visitors. Your site looks way too monetized for my taste. I have to scroll to get to real content.
You website http://www.myspacebuffet.com/ does not have 8k per day. Just watch the Alexa. Post a webalizer or awstats screeenhot.
I don't think this site gets 8k uniques a day. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=http://www.myspacebuffet.com/ - Prilep
There is no chance you get 8k daily mate. I had alexa rank in millions when i had maximum 10 people a day on my site, and after i had 1k daily, i was ranked in top 100k websites on alexa. Basically, if you HAD 8k traffic a day, only from adsense your revenue should total in approx 10-30 bucks a day.
If you really want some advice post some screenshots. I also find it hardly to believe that you earn so low with the same amount of traffic. You said in your second post that you have over 300 000 impressions per month? No way.
Look, I don't know why it matters if I am getting the traffic I say I am. My question is still legit. I don't have to prove anything to you people. All I want is some advice on how to properly monetize my site - nothing more, nothing less. I can provide proof to people who really want to help and aren't just trying to shake me down for info. But my questions still stands: Should I remove ads before applying to a CPM network? If so, why?
im a SEO expert, it may be because you do not put your ads in the right places. PM details i could help you for fee.
Completely, and it caters to teen agers who don't click anything that is not free. They also don't have CC's. That would be a great way to waste time Yep.
Guys, the question isn't whether the Myspace Resource niche is oversaturated; or whether the OP can prove his traffic to you - his question is how to generate revenue from a site with 8k daily uniques; if you have no advice to give, stop busting his chops and basically accusing him of being a liar. An addition to my earlier 2 cents; check where your traffic is coming from, ie who your referrers are. Is it from link exchanges, traffic exchanges, search engines etc? If its from incoming links; then that tells you a little something about your visitors - ie they are likely to click on links featured on a website if they think it may be of interest; in which case maybe look at selling links, hooking up with TextLinkAds, or featuring Adsense link blocks in prominent locations. If they're from Search Engines, then you know they're not adverse to using those; so stick a Google search engine somewhere on your site. If they're from traffic exchange/banner exchange programs then you'll probably not get a lot of ad-clicking action from them. In my opinion these should be in addition to a maximum of 3 CPM spots (don't over-clutter your site with ads) - this way you still generate revenue whether someone clicks an ad or not.
I will give you some honest criticism. First of all your sites first impression is ads. Not, that you have something to offer, or that you will solve what the visitor is looking for. Visitors may be dumb about how the web works, but they know what they want and they are used to pages of nothing but ads, and back out of them. You have one shot at making an impression, and getting them to stay, and click. Your first impression is, "Hey click here and go to someone else's site" The trick is to sell them without them knowing that you are selling them. You can't just SEO the crap out of it, and plop some ads on it. It actually has to have something that will make them want to visit, and stick around. some content, and that should be the FIRST thing they see, NOT "ads by google" Your content needs to back up the ads or the ads are worthless. When you are channel surfing at home..Don't you keep going (and quickly)when you see a commercial, or do you wait, for all the commercials to be done to see what is on that station? You move on because you have 125 channels to choose from, well on the web, there are 1000's of my space resource sites to choose from, and if you go over to the Buy and Sell section, you will see people everyday, "Looking for a domain for a My Space Resource site" or " looking to buy a My Space Resource site" What makes me want to stay , and return to yours? The Google ads above the fold, before the content? No. That's what the back button is for. If you are just looking to capitalize on a few one time clicks and no return visitors, then, you are following down the right path, but even that is not working for you. Bottom line...Make your site better. If you are going to do it, then make it the best, not just enough to get by, and be able to say, "I have a My Space resource site" everything that is done purely for the "Bandwagon money" or "folklore"....fails. Just look around at how many people are chasing money that has been made already. JMO
Actually our questions about whether your traffic/income ratio is correct are relevant. Adsense is in many cases a good (and easy) way to monetize a website. If your site doesn't convert, we have to figure out why that is - because it doesn't make sense. I have some myspace related traffic and it converts decently. With 800000 visitors a month I could quit all my clients. No sweat. (unfortunately that's not quite where I'm at - anyhow..) If your site is getting that amount of traffic, since you do have reasonably optimized ads (a bit over optimized, but that's another story) - it just doesn't make sense that you aren't making money. In case your claim that adsense doesn't convert is correct, then the obvious answer is that you need cpm ads. But that conclusion is only valid if your statement about the amount of traffic you're getting is correct. Business is about working with what you've got and making the most out of it. In order for us to give you decent advice, we need to have a decent picture of where you're at. Could be that affiliates are a good idea. Could be that you should just get better content so that your visitors actually stay on your site instead of going right back to google. Could be you're exaggerating your visitor-numbers and what you really need is some down to earth people telling you to stop bragging and start working on actual content to get actual visitors. Whatever it is - good luck!
When you tell the truth about the traffic you have (probably in the XX's daily), then people might try and help you out. Lying doesn't get you anywhere. P.S - You can easily get into top 100,000 websites in alexa.com if you have steady traffic of only 1k uniques a day. That's tested.
kh7 - Thanks for the geniune help. I've PM'ed you my stats so maybe you can figure something out. If you need anything else, let me know! DevilHellz - You don't know me so don't accuse me of lying. What incentive do I have to lie to you people? I've already stated I'm not trying to sell anything (links, site, ect). You think I'd lie to increase my pride? I'm sorry, but thats just lame. So take it easy man, and don't talk trash over the net. It's pointless and is only going to make you look bad.
