I am rated #1 on most engines. I think I am writing non objective desciptions. But still no luck? Any help? My site is WestchesterApartments.net

    Thanks

Try writing objective description. And search this forum to find out you'll probably never get in...

How long have you been trying? If its been less then 6 months - your just in the early stages. Some catagories are backed up over a year

    mluchen,

the wait is horrendous, although, they do have some decent explanations.

You can ask in the dmoz forum, here is a thread I had with the editors : http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37335&page=1&pp=15

Kind of explains why there is a loooong wait and why they can't (or won't depending on how you look at it) give timeframes, or anything but submission status.

I think luck has more to do with it than anything. Luck with regards to who edits your category.

I registered to ask my status on the forum of odp. I just find it so wearing that I can take any company or site and make it #1 on every search engine without paying but I cant get into ODP, driving me nuts.

Absolutely, that is assuming there is an editor assigned to that category.

Real estate can be tricky. Not trying to start another argument but there is a possibility that the editor could also be a competitor of yours. Many DMOZ editors will add you anyways in that case but in reality, others won't. You may be talking to deaf ears at the resource zone but then again it's worth a shot. Just saying, DMOZ is not playing by the "same rights for all" rules when it comes to getting a site integrated.
I would recommend asking them for a status check and then come back here to ask for advice :)

I also think it shouldnt be hard to get in becuase there are only like 4 sites in this category. Not many submitting to it.

It is my understanding that real estate agent sites should be submitted on the "Local" level.

This is true. Unless you have more than one office in the county, you should have submitted to Harrison, NY. Also, you should have the address of your office on the website.

It is also my understanding that for real estate agents the title submitted needs to be the Agent's Name and Company Name.

Have you considered volunteering your time and becoming and editor?

It should have been submitted once to the most precise Regional category.

Open Directory Editing Guidelines - Real Estate

So extra submissions got removed - no conflict of interest at work.

Understandably it's frustrating what comes up in Google for "michael luchin" real estate :D :p :)
