I have seen peppy's confession. is that enough proof for you? (very paradoxical that you ask me for rock solid proof, when you provide close to NO proof for most of the claims you make about DMOZ - you can't have it both ways).
Someone called peppy posted on RZ offering money. Someone called peppy confessed to doing it over at GGroups. Its not rocket science.

Well. That's what a couple of other DMOZ editor said about me but so far they were unable to explain what my "fake" claims are.

And, so far you haven't provided proof against Peppy. Unless you believe that your previous post proves something. :)

The guy's username at GGroups is "peppy1" and my username here is "peppy", so you can't actually be 100% certain that this is me.

Oh come on! We are not that stupid! SO when peppy1 says at GG's about the thread they started at DP and link to it and the person that started that thread here is you. Do you expect us to believe that?

I could have made my username at Google Groups be "Agent000". Then everyone would think you did it!

But that guy's username "peppy1" is slightly different than "peppy", so you can't be absolutely sure about anything now.

Who do you really think uses the internet? It's not webmasters, it's not surfers...

The ODP does NOT comply with Google Standards...complaining about it is something they have actually requested. And unlike AOL, google actually tends to listen....besides, it's not that much of a stretch that we can get the ODP removed, there have been times where Google has forgotten you exist (a fact shown by forgetting to update their clone for months to a year at a time).

As for being a paying customer, I think I actually fit the bill by using both Adsense & Adwords... it's not like the ODP is pulling them in any money, if it did they would not have forgotten to update for a year :p

Proof is subjective, as seen here:

And if a username IS proof enough, then I take it you are agreeing that those COMPLETED scriptlance transactions with POSITIVE feedback show enough light to shine down on the FACT odp links can be bought and sold. I guess a better example of usernames would be Anonymously being a DMOZ editor.

Of course we don't, lol. You still don't get it do you? :)

We do our own thing, and everyone is free to use the results. Google is a separate entity and chooses to use our data, just as many others do, but that doesn't mean we work for any of them. :)

    Good grief!
The Directory gathers data and organizes it, period.
We build categories for info seekers, period.

Everyone is free to use or not use what we build, period.

Why ever would we be interested in any other entities standards? :D

Get us removed from Google? Do you seriously think that would change how we build the Directory or why? Exactly what effect would that have on us? Would we lose money? Nooo, because we don't charge Google any money. lol

Did you happen to actually read my posts in this thread? What YOU think does not apply here. What the ODP does or thinks does not apply here... I'm telling the people complaining to stand up as one and voice their opinions to Google...I'm not talking about NOT using the ODP because it does not conform to any type of normality.

Maybe not, but I bet AOL might notice ;)

And why would AOL care? or Google for that matter. Google doesn't serve webmasters either, they serve information seekers, just as dmoz does.

The only ones who really care are people who try to make their living in front of computers instead of making a real living working with their hands. :D
