Why can't Google ... automatically add your channels

They know what pages the clicks are coming from - why not just ad the channels automatically? I realised today I was getting clicks from one of my domains on a few pages I didn't have set up - so I've gone through the full file list ensuring I have every .html on the site setup so I can see what the clicks are worth on each page... what a pain in the arse

What's stopping them just automatically adding any address that gets a click into your channels? I'm at a loss ..... silly me to think the 'find channels' box and button actually found all the channels I hadn't listed so I could pick and choose which I'd like to be added to my channels .....no .. just a simple search to find 1 channel amongst only those already in there.......... tsk

    Todays grievance!

Not everybody uses channels, so why waste resources?

I use my channels by site, not by individual files. Like I have a digitalpoint channel, one for my forum, and one for my main site. Not each file in the sites.

    Too much of a hassle.

I just used my 100th, and wish I had more. I use mine 1 for each page, since my site each channel or page is it's own mini site.

It's hardly a waste of time if you notice a few of your pages are getting high costs per click, you then know to SEO on them like crazy and add more relavant content and more back links to those pages performing best.

I use channels for each page until I'm happy with the rough ammounts I'm getting per click, then I can remove it. If it's a large ammount though, I know to keep it there and drive more traffic to it. Makes sense, and it's hardly hassle.. just maximizing the revenue potential of a site.

It's hardly a waste of a resources to implement that option now is it Fryman? I'd be suprised if the option wasn't available to premium publishers to be honest. Perhaps one day I'll know.. until then, I shall add each page as I go. If you don't know which parts of your site are earning the most, how on earth do you maximize the sites potential *before* going on and creating another site..... ?

Yes it is a waste of resources. You use the channels, so what? Many other webmasters don't, why would Google list channels for people that don't even use them or want them?

Er they don't have too....only for those that do use the channels, you tetchy git.

It would be a useful and valuable addition, else they could just scrap the channels alltogether, couldn't they fryman. Afterall, many people don't use the channels.

I think it's more of an issue of the preferences of the webmasters. I'd be really annoyed if I had to look through a list of all of my pages to find out what I was getting in terms of clicks per domain.

Since the people who want the most granularity are probably the ones most willing to put time into it, it makes sense that Google would make it so those people have to adjust, while the casual users get the least granular stats.

You wouldn't have to look through a list of all your pages. You can still have your www.domain.com channel. I'm just saying it would be nice if Google picked up on all the pages creating impressions and displayed a list where you could add them to your channels list instead of having to type the address in to each individual one.

I think such a mechanic would encourage sloppy and haphazard ad placement. Perhaps they want to encourage a little more thought and consideration. The kind that might come from you having to think about placement and specific channels for specific placement.

    Just a thought...

Or maybe nobody has suggested it and that is why they don't do it.

    I agree...

It doesn't even have to be a channel, but even show it like AdSonar does. In detail view, they show you what page each click comes from.

A channel for each referrer page? Man, that would make some users look at millions upon millions of channels. Nope, not going to fly.
