You ostracize rational thinkers, fuel reckless nationalism, and support anything a perfectly corruptable government does, and consume whatever a perfectly corruptable media dishes out without second thought to the evidence of the past, and you'll have done more damage to this nation's ideals than any terrorist organization could ever do.

America has a chance to redeem itself. We've won many battles for the sake of human progress - I just hate to see us perpetuating our reckless side that never seems to go away. And we have to remember that we're human too, and that our blood is no richer, purer, or more valuable than anyone elses.

If you'd stop to think, you'd realize that many who don't support America's actions are just holding out to try to make the country better. There is no ulterior motive, and if anything, we are the true patriots, who love our country too much to see it remain something other than the shiny, ideal state we thought we knew as children.

 

Right ST, when you have some facts to add instead of just raw emotion, "bring em on" like your President said.

He did not look like a threat to me or to you, opinions are part of the constitutional rights of Americans, you have to realize that and accept that others have opinions and they may not be in line with yours but should be considered as you can learn from other viewpoints.

The reason Hitler was so successful in getting Germans to fight is the fact that he convinced them that they were fighting in self defense when in fact he deceived the nation as he was in an offensive war mode.

So you can not always follow leaders blindly as they did, you must consider the views of others or you to will fail in dealings with others.

For European figureheads this was the norm back during the first great war. The reason hitler could control the emotions of his people was probably in large part due to the miserable position the german people were in. They hated the Wiemar Rupublic, were in disbelief at having not claimed the german empire's place in the sun a couple decades ago, and were burdened with huge Allied reparations, the ripple effect of the American great depression, and the scars the great war had left. They sapped up any excuse to get out of their plight, and were willing to take any scapegoat.

It only goes to show you what happens when irrational heads prevail.

This is certainly not true. Although before the nazi regime jews were persecuted in germany to an extent, it wasn't far removed from what was happening elsewhere. Hitler created a scapegoat, virtually overnight, and the people ate it up, especially after the nazi sponsored Kristanllnant, or "The Night of Broken Glass." Hate became a civic duty. As for conquering the world, that wasn't a very unique or sinister ambition, many empires have shared that same sentiment.

The key here was that Hitler lied, and as we all know he was a master of deciet. He must have put on a show when he agreed not to take any more lands - that's what made Chamberlain so confident.

That "defend America" should be in parenthesis. The war in Afghanistan was justified in that it was a retaliatory act of war made in response to a significantly more vicious act of war by Osama bin Laden. But the war in Iraq - I still don't understand why things had to be this way. Iraq poses no real threat to the homeland and made no move upon us.

 

I hate to break the news to your ST, but our soldiers are done believing Bush and Rumsfeld lies and want out of this war, watch the news for once.
