Why can you only save voicemail for 14 days?

I'm very frustrated right now. A new client called me and left a message 3 weeks ago saying that we need to meet after he gets off of vacation. The message had his phone number... the thing is my voicemail messages are automatically deleted after 14 days.

This makes me really mad. There are companies like google which allow you to store Gigabytes worth of data FOREVER for FREE, yet the cell phone company that I pay over $100 a month erases my data every two weeks... the funny thing is that it would benefit them to store this info because I would be able to call and access it while using more minutes in the process... this would mean more money for them.

Okay, the rant is over. Tell me what you think.

The reason they delete after two weeks is because it is meant to be a little note to either call them back or pass on a small message. You can't blame them for the fact that you didn't have the sense to write the number down. It even tells you when you save it how long it will be saved for.

Two weeks is sufficient in my opinion. I do know of certain cases where it would be an advantage to be able to save longer (evidence for example) but there are devices to record convosations and some phones allow you to record calls so you could save them like that.

Did you save it or was it just in the floating inbox? If it's the latter I'm not suprised it got deleted but I understand your frustration, I've done it before.
