Why Can I rank in Google but not Yahoo?

I'm really getting upset about how much my sites lack Yahoo traffic, while they dominate in Google for the most part.

Can anyone help suggest ideas to get this site into Yahoo! ? I just can't seem to find a way to get it ranked there. It has a great link profile but just doesn't fare well outside of Google (it does OK in bing)

Well google and yahoo are different. So you will always see this difference. People use google more than yahoo.

If I were you, I wouldn't be worrying about Yahoo. If you're ranking well in Google, why not keep working at trying to get the #1 spot for that keyword? It seems obvious to me.

Try to provide some quality content on your site. Yahoo is more on content while google is more on link.

For some of my site, visitors who came from search engines, half of the number is from yahoo. So I also wonder if another people focus on google, and I focus on Yahoo.

Probably what you should do that Yahoo pays attention to

Number of backlinks are more important then in google, google values more quality backlinks yahoo may not.
Old domains are a definit factor for them
I'd say yahoo doesn't like blogs and frequent updates, but rather quality keyword optimized content that stays there forever. Probably because they are slow at indexing
Submit your site to yahoo directory - if you want better rankings in yahoo, then beeing in their directory is a must

Thanks, that makes sense. Some of my sites that don't get updated are doing well in Yahoo, while the ones that are constantly updated pretty much dominate Google.

    Thanks everyone...

But traffic is the result of ranking. If you rank poorly, page 2 or 3 of SERPs, then you will get little traffic.

Yahoo favors on-page optimization to the point where the page is spammy. The problem is that if you optimize for Y! you'll probably lose rank (position) in G results. It is extremely difficult to do well in both. Faced with that choice, most people go G.

And besides it'll soon won't matter whether it's Bing or Yahoo, since Yahoo will be powered by M$ technology soon.

I surprise with the thread and its replies.

My case is different. With backlinks and traffic Yahoo is far ahead from Google for my website. Don't know why google pay less attention :(
