Why bother rating threads in P & R?

(((This is not about any thread I started, or any one thread in particular)))

In most sections of DP, if someone bothers to rate a thread, the feedback is likely to reflect on the 'quality' of the post.

In P & R, IMO, people will 'up-and-down' rate a thread based only on their bias or opinion.

    • Do you really think 1 or 2 stars will stop someone from reading a thread?
    • ...or does 5 stars actually draw more viewers???

    What do you think??

I don't even notice ratings... if it's a good rating, it's probably the OP trying to attract eyes... if it's a bad rating, it's probably someone the OP pissed off...

    Personally,
    • I don't care that much about rating. It has no value over here.
    • I tend to rate abyale's threads with 1 star, since he has a super cool copy/paste feature in his keyboard
    • And what's with making posts with the <list> function ?

I like it when people give a thread one start. It just makes the thread stand out versus the majority since they aren't ranked at all :D
