Backlinks act as votes of trust from other websites. Quality backlinks can help search engines understand a website’s authority and relevance, which may improve its search visibility, rankings, and organic traffic over time.
Backlinks are important for SEO because they signal to Google that your website is credible, authoritative, and relevant to a user’s search query.
I agree. One thing I’d add is that the quality and relevance of backlinks matter just as much as the number of links. A few relevant, trustworthy links can be much more valuable than a large number of low-quality ones. Building links naturally through useful content seems like the better long-term approach.
Nobody is going to argue that backlinks aren't important, but only if they are passing a boost from high-quality / high-ranking sites. How do you get on those?
In my experience, it mostly comes down to finding sites that are actually relevant to your niche and building a relationship with the people behind them. Strong content, useful contributions, and natural mentions can help you get those quality links without focusing only on numbers.
Backlinks matter most when they represent a real relationship or genuine recommendation. A relevant industry publication mentioning a brand on its own domain is usually more valuable than dozens of unrelated directory links.
Sometimes, real human beings click through the web links. Can you imagine now such old fashioned usage?
Well, good luck with that. Reddit will ban you like you never existed, no matter how hard you try to appease their community. Any forum that values good contributions can smell fakery a mile away and most won't let you post links unless you pay. Exchanging links with bloggers is useless, they're only exchanging because they don't have traffic either. Ranking high on Google? It's not going to happen. Is there a reputable site, blog or board linking back to you (your SEO service)? Just a rhetorical question.
I agree with the point about fake contributions and low-value link exchanges. But I wouldn’t put all backlinks in the same bucket. A relevant mention from a reputable site can still be valuable for both authority and referral traffic. That’s actually what I’ve been seeing while working on SEO at QTO Dev.
Exactly—relevance and genuine editorial value matter far more than simply chasing a high number of backlinks.
Backlinks are important because they help search engines understand that other websites trust your content. But I think quality matters much more than quantity. One good link from a relevant website can be more useful than hundreds of random links. Backlinks also can bring real visitors, not only SEO value. For me, the best links are those that look natural and come from useful content.
