Why Aren't My Visits Going Up With My SEO Strategy?

I've written and submitted several hundred articles to Ezine which direct traffic to one of my sites. I'd say a approximately 2/3 of them target long tail, decently rankable keywords, and I've been editing and slowly resubmitting them to 7 other notable article directories to build backlinks to the original article and my site (i send one link to original article, other link to the my site). They're all dofollow sites, and by now I've built those 7 backlinks to about 130 of my articles.

I'm still not seeing any more traffic to my site, however, according to google analytics, which is the problem. I'd think I'd be ranking for some of those keywords at this point and that should be reflected in my traffic, so I don't know what the deal. What else should I be doing and is this a good strategy to begin with?

Your strategy could help your site ranking for some low compeitive keywords. If you are targeting medium to high competitive keywords, then you need more quality links beside the link from Ezinearticles and your overall strategy.
