Maybe my non-technical grandfather put it best when he said "there's nothing new or special here in Vista"
New OS always comes with some compatibility and security issues. You may not have tried to install much devices/softwares but people who do that, run into troubles. It is always better to wait for an OS to mature rather than jumping in.
Because it is from Microsoft BTW, the poll question is not clear. What do you mean? Which one i use or which one I like more?
I just got round to putting vista on and I've been having a lot of problems. It runs faster than XP for me (probably because I was only using 32 bit XP and I'm using 64bit Vista) but I've had to turn off the UAC for a lot of games and software to run. Vista has a lot of things going for it, but it also has a lot of problems too.
May be when Microsoft declare Final version of Vista, I will prefer Vista instead of XP. But now a days ... Only XP
Personally, I do not run Vista. But if we all remember back to when XP was introduced, a lot of people complained about it. Why.. because it was new. People just seem to not like change. I remember back when Windows 95 was released. I didn't like it, because it did things a different way (ie. change). Give Vista some time. Even though it seems slow... technology will change.. we will get faster processors and Vista will run like XP does now. That's my $.02.
I'm really happy with XP, Vista is just too buggy right now and too slow. All my friends say it is crap.
Have Vista and have Xp which is better Xp well at least for now there is just to many bugs in it I have around 20 pc games only 2 work on vista the system restore does'nt work so if the computer crashs I will have to start everything all over again
You'll get a lot of con-vista opinions here because everyone here is the web savvy type and need the computer for performance. The general market, however, the people who use computers at home to surf the web, will like the speed and will appreciate the eye candy.
i just set up a vista machine last night for a friend and well, vista was crazy, very confusing and annoying. i run xp on my mac so i'll stick with that.
Using vista on my new laptop since last 10 days. I think vista needs minimum 1 GB of RAM for better result. Currently my laptop has 512 MB of RAM and its preety much slower compare to XP whichone on my desktop pc with same 512 MB of RAM.
Actually your machine is an eye candy as well how much did you pay for that ? is it a laptop or a PC ?
I have 1 GB of RAM and it is slow. About the same as performance on my other PC with XP and 256MB of RAM. And in order to get this performance I had to turn off most of the features of Vista that make it look nice, so I don;t even get those benefits. Vista could be good, if the performance were good and you didn't need to be NASA to afford a PC that ran it well.
