Basically, new PCs and notebooks come with VISTA and mainly those have the power and enough RAM. Some of my friends are quite happy with it as it runs smoother and have some features XP doesn't. Overall, I guess it boils down to hardware drivers when it comes to upgrading. As suggested, it will be better for those who are using older PCs or notebooks to wait for the service pack 1 that will help a smoother upgrade. Of course you will have to spend some money to upgrade stuff like your RAM since VISTA requires more RAM for its resources.

People are burning on Vista's Succes, this is a joke.I put a link to a news- report in a previous post, perhaps you didn't read it:

Dell brings back XP on home systems a CNET News.com:
    http://news.com.com/Dell+brings+back+XP+on+home+systems/2100-1046_3-6177619.html

Perhaps after you reading the article you see why is a joke: "People are burning on Vista's Succes".
They put Vista on new computers, and give us no option, they manipulate us with marketing campaign , but we have rights, we are not Microsoft rats and IT specialists from big companies and smart home users refuse to be manipulated and

Me too, it's not as good as it should have been, and it is quite buggy, but that is to be expected, and will probably be mostly sorted in SP1 when it comes out. As far as I'm aware, a lot has changed in the core of the OS. It's prepared the way for future advances. IPv7, for example. Also, I'm looking forward to the release of WinFS (or has it already been released?). Overall, a lot has changed, just nothing big and obvious (except the GUI which is very obvious)

User friendliness is alright up to a point, but beyond that point it gets harder and harder to fix something as Windows doesn't really tell you what it is anymore. Saying 'There is no DHCP server on the network' would be helpful in many cases, but windows says, 'This network has limited connectivity'. Hiding the problem altogether. Admittedly many users wouldn't have a clue what the first one means, and the second one might be marginally more helpful, providing both wouldn't really be that hard.

Incidentally, this is an attack at Windows in general, not just at Vista.

Dude, what do you have against Vista? I'm glad that it came preinstalled with my laptop -- that means I won't have to pay to upgrade it when I want to a few years down the road.

I run vista and xp on a

Manufacturer: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe / OCZ GameXStream 700 Watt Dual GPU SLI
Processor: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+2.0GHz (OC/2.4) / Zalman CNPS9700 NT CPU Cooler
Memory: OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 2x1024MB Dual Channel Platinum XTC
Hard Drive: 74 wd raptor 10,000rpm
Video Cards: 2x BFG GeForce 7900gt oc 256mb (SLI)
Sound Card: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
Peripherals: Thermaltake Aguila Case / Logitec G15 Keyboard / Logitech MX1000 Mouse / ViewSonic 20.1 Widescreen LCD

And I have nothing but problems with vista.

    1. My video card fans run at full rpm.

    2. Mp3's take forever to load in media player.

    3. IE7 And Firefox displays some websites very slow, seems like im running dialup.

    4. My keyboard drivers dont work proper.

    5. My games run amazing in xp, but they run horrible in vista.

    6. My CPU goes crazy while my computer is doing nothing.

    7. Pictures load slow.

Im really disappointed in vista, I paid 300 dollars for it.

My xp runs amazing and sooo fast and quite.

I feel vista is just eye candy. I can see it being good after a service pack update.

I think everybody is waiting for SP1. I'm using Linux for the same reason. Less requirements and I don't have to pay $400 + for it.

I'm buying a new laptop now and it seems they already started to put vista in those, so I'm having to buy one without OS and install XP myself.
Knowing microsoft I'm pretty sure Vista is not ready, will take at least a year till it becomes really usable
