well if ms continues to demand more and mroe resources and such an exponential rate, it will end up being that
Vista is a FAILURE I will buy my new laptop and install XP on it and if the new os in 2010 from micro$oft is any good then maybe I will install it, but I will skip Vista totally
I find that unless you have like 3 or 4 gigs of RAM Vista runs like a dog and locks up all the time if you are multi-tasking...
I can't stand the ram-taxing graphical eye candy! Just because we have faster computers in 2007/8, doesn't mean that we want to waste our hard-won gains on irrelevant operating system processes. I'd prefer a very "lite" Microsoft operating system.
Quad Processesor 4GB - but its still slow when doing multi-funtion. Better have great resluts with xp with the fast and easy OS than being cool and slow on vista..
I think ppl are just afraid of vista, they dont know what to do b.c its so much better. They say " o you have to have 4 gigs of ram or it will barely run" then how does it make sence that i have 2 gigs of ram and i can have dreamweaver, photoshop, flash 8, vegas 7, and adobe after effects and its just as fast as an xp with nothing open? and "it always crashes and screen goes blank" I have 450gigs filled on my hdd on a 470 hdd and its never crashed on me. hmmm
I find the networking and wireless networking on vista to be a little bit glitchy, for some strange reason when I connect the first time it often will connect with limited connectivity, then when I repair and reset the network connection it works the second time.... it's strange.
Nothing works on it, all of my old gaming server files don't work w/ Vista. And about 90 processes are running ALL OF THE TIME no matter what you do... XP all the way.
If you're going to use one of them I'd say XP.. or a modded Vista... how it is stock.. no way! Its too broken.
I never link Vista. XP is best for me. Lots of changes they have made on Vista from XP. The main disgusting option is Shut Down button. When I bought my first Laptop (Vista OS) two month before, my Laptop was running whole night. Because I was clicked at Red Logo to shut down the Laptop. But the Red Logo is for Stand By. For this basic reason I never like Vista.
They need to work harder to improve Vista. Soon XP will be no longer serviced with updates. What I hate most is that MS tries in a tricky way to exclude 3rd party programs, even after being punished hard by the EU already. Maybe Linux will be the only options.
My regular pc is a dual core 2.66 cpu with 2gb of ram and right now I have photoshop cs 3 open, dreamweaver cs3 with 13 tabs, 3 firefox browsers with 5-8 tabs a piece my ftp server, my download client and I'm 51% done with burning my dvd. Even with all that my computer is running just as fast as it did with xp. As long as you tunr that aero crap off vista uses about the same amount of resources as xp did. Also you say xp is an easy OS, I don't think you've used vista enough then. Anything you can do on xp you can do in vista in half the time.
So the 1000's of security updates, better firewall protection, easier to use navigation and many many features you base your decision on a power button? A power button that you can edit to make it what ever you want. You can make it shut down or hibernate or sleep what ever you want it to do. But that's really or basis on why you don't like vista? I bet you buy cars because of the number of cup holders it has.
I picked XP simply because that's what came with my computer. When I buy a new computer [if actually], and it comes with vista, I will keep vista. It's not a bad operating system, it just requires more ram than XP did. If you notice, the Apple Mac Book Pro has 2gb of ram already. That's not much more than what Vista needs to run. Also, most of the hardware issues with Vista are because hardware makers didn't get around to developing working drivers. I'm not a Windows fanboy, I just think that the whole "micro$oft" thing is dumb. They're a business and that's the goal of a business, to make profit. Microsoft just happens to be good at it. Oh and I have an Ubuntu powered server so yeah, I'm a mix of free/propriety software
