I would love for Vista to be the next big thing. I love new stuff and gadgets and flashy things, but MS does not have a good record in my book with functionality.
Personally I think there are to many compatibility issues, especially with regards to drivers. Some things - older scanners etc for instance will probably never work on Vista. And there are a large number of issue with sound, conflict between network cards and sound cards, etc etc. Starting from scratch, all new hardware, the latest software then probably (/probably/) not an issue, but the older or more obscure your gear the worse it will be for you. The big difference is XP let's you run unsigned drivers. It you use them and it crashes (thanks Netgear!) or you have problems that is your choices. Vista takes away that option (unless they changed that back again ><). Absolutely it makes the system more stable, but you have to factor in the cost of upgrading and replacing everything...
One good feature that a friend of mine loves is that if you have a warning about a software driver that is not functioning and keeps popping up as warning, after 1 or 2 times rebooting, it will simply disable it. You will no longer gets the annoying warning message. It helps to reduce your task to find out how to remove it.
i have it and you all just need to learn how to use it. It's simple and great imo. I like xp but because im stuck with vista I'm not gonna go through the hassle of changing back.
why to pay for vista interface.why to pay for a nice box with a 5 year old product inside? At this moment Microsoft is not a good software company it is a very good marketing company. They sell almost nothing new with a lot of money. Here it is a CRN report: http://www.crn.com/software/199701019 about security in vista and xp also a review of report at arstechnica: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070530-windows-vista-no-more-secure-than-xp-report.html
Almost all of my drivers on XP are unsigned drivers and I did not have any problem.I tested Vista , and ;If I can't get the signed drivers no instalation. "Make the system more stable" yes it is down, because I can't instal components. SAY NO TO VISTA UNTIL THEY DO A GOOD SOFTWARE NOT A VERY GOOD MARKETING CAMPAIGN. Vista takes up too much resources! It was barely running with 512mb ram. I tried vista for some time and found myself going back to XP. It's just seemed all bulky with some fancy gimmick.
Everyone's against Vista because they are misinformed. I made this thread while ago... gone back to the second page now though: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=328180
The 2 main reasons i hate vista is that; 1. It needs high spec computers to run it. 2. It costs way too much for most people afford (thanks to torrents, i am not going to pay when i decide to upgrade, which wont be for a few years). Rob
I see the same replies in your thread as well It's not about Vista features, it's about it's monster attitude and eating PC resources You will need to upgrade your machine to cope up with Vista requirements anyways, it's still early to upgrade sine it's not fully compatible with hardwares and softwares yet maybe by the end of this year when all 2008 versions of the softwares are out
Congrats on admitting you are a pirate on an internet forum, where all posts are logged with IP addresses. People that do that disgust me. Whether Microsoft is rich or not, their operating systems take time to develop and if you want that piece of programming, you should pay for it. Same with the publishers that click their ads, it's wrong.
It's not about paying for Vista more than paying for the hardware itself and btw, don't be happy for using pirated softwares like that
I said 'IF i do upgrade, i wont pay'. I am probably not going to upgrade it. I have already upgraded my laptop to the max, and it is just inside the minimum spec for Vista. Btw thanks for the red rep. Obviously it is from you. I returned it. At least when i admit something, i do without fear. Your just envious because you havn't got the balls to admit you download pirated music. Who doesnt these days? Oh, and i failed to mention, where i live we have the highest General Rates, highest Water Rates in the country, yet we have the lowest wages in the country, yet all you can complain about is a virtual product. Rob
I didn't give red rep. Thanks for the rep, though. Now you can have some more. I don't download pirated music. Ever hear of the iTunes Music Store?
I dont use iTunes, because i dont have a iPod. I use torrents and foobar2000. Rob Edit: soz for the bad rep, i got angry.
Yet you don't admit that you were wrong for accusing me of giving you that red rep, do you? Check your User CP -- the first one wasn't me. Edit: Nevermind.
Ok, sorry, in real life, i do have a minor anger management problem, i have mentor session later today and it is designed to help me sort it out. I was in the wrong, i rep repped the wrong person, and i am the flying dutchman's captain.
