A lot of people said that XP sucked when it came out too. Most computers will run Vista eventually and when the next OS comes out they'll say Vista is better.
Actually Vista really does suck. An OS should not require a gig of memory not even databases do. This is what we call bloated ware. This is why so many people don't like Vista the requirements are for business computers not personal computers.
I can't believe this is still being debated.. Take a 3+ year old computer with XP and a brand new top of the line computer with Vista and XP will be much faster. Enough said.. What have you gained for that major spead decrease even with all the extra processing power and 2 gigs of ram? A few little features that nobody needs and a few more steps to do everything. Awesome!
Ok , I read almost last 20 thread pages and came to conclusion that Vista is not for me . So can you suggest me better linux distro with aero look etc just for entertainment purpose. thanks
Vista will be the most popular OS within a year. Sooner or later most people will upgrade because of software compatibilty,no XP support from MS etc.
Vista will run uh-okay if your laptop's a core 2 duo with at least 2 gig of RAM. And that type of laptop is too expensive to begin with. Why can't Microsoft create a nice looking OS, not so fancy though, that runs fast yet uses up just a 50MB of ram? This way, you won't need an expensive Intel processors and gigs and gigs of RAM just to get your laptop roll without a hitch.
So Microsoft can sell more OS on new upgraded PC's maybe. Maybe Bill Gates gets a commission from Intel and AMD.
It's quite stupid what people do for money these days. I mean seriously if he simply made the OS decent, then he would be getting money from sales instead of getting commission from Intel and AMD. That's assuming that things really do go that way.
I think it's a scheme so you buy more memory, new graphics card, new processor or a new a PC with Microsoft. The real reason he wanted to sell game consoles was because Playstation sold so many and they all had online access without Microsoft. He also said the iPod wouldn't last. LOL.
I think most people are sheep and that's the reason they are against Vista, 90% of the time when people say Vista is crap I ask them why they think that and its normally because there friend has it and said it was, or they have heard it was. People need to form there own opinions. As for me I think Vista is great, however I dual boot it with Linux and hardly ever boot into Vista.
Vista killed my old laptop . I feel like such an idiot for installing it. I had a fast dell laptop, which I bought around 2 years ago. It ran Windows XP fine. I recently installed Vista on it. I was doing some coding on dreamweaver and the system froze up again. I shut the lid and decided to deal with something less frustrating. I came back to a steaming hot dell that would not turn on. I gave up and bought a Macbook Pro. I am much happier now.
