    Eh,

IMO it's year or two ahead of what I'd NEED out of a system. I'll holla @ Vista Ultimate if I need a system that runs more then 3-4 gigs of ram (which is what XP Pro's maximum is if I'm not mistaken).

The requirements for this OS is laughable. Do you guys know where talking about an OS? An OS that requires that much resources tells you it's bloated ware.

Because I keep installing it on different systems thinking it will work great, and wind up taking it off a few days or weeks later when it fails me.

Some systems BSOD too much, some don't work well with software needed, and there seems to be far too many random issues and errors that I don't have time to deal with.

Ah but the thing about it is most people are just looking at Areo. If you don't like areo you can disable it and it will be Vista without the steriods. The three main reasons why I upgraded was security, performance, and i was tired of XP....having been with it for 6 years plus:D

One of the main reasons for many people upgrading to Vista is the new interface. Other than the security issues (whcih some still have reservations about...to be expected) its also the fact that it ties in with the whole idea of the computer being the center of the family's entertainment room.

    Hi,

Vista needs a fast processor and a graphic card with a large memory. Without both you will experience a sluggish performance.

Yep. Alot of outdated products. The main problem I find is with drivers especially for printers....other than that its ok.

In other words: You can remove the only new feature in Vista and then it will run OK.

The interface is half the reason why I am not upgrading. Also, XP can work as a media centre perfectly.

Aero is not the only reason.

Better software (office 07, ie7 etc.)
    Better integration with online applications
More power to IT developers (Ultimate)
Better security (Windows defender and firewall)
Better family security (for moms who are not interested in little Johnny viewing daddy's porn)
    More user friendly interface (aero)
    Better search (with Window's search)

    Works on XP.
I have yet to see it
    Not that I've noticed.
    Not really. some newbie-protection and a less-than-adequate quasi-AV.
I've never found this sort of feature any use in any software I've used.
What's more "user friendly" about transparent windows and extra animations? It's still no easier to use.
Google Desktop for XP is fine and, even if it wasn't, it's not worth the upgrade particularly if you have an organised filing system.
