Vista seems to take like 50% of my friends computers CPU even tho he just bought it. Vista is not good if you want to play advanced games or do a lot of things at the same time =)
Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that everyone was saying the exact same thing about windows XP in 2001? Humans hate change, we don't like to move out of our comfort zone. The current computer architecture has reached it's limits. If people do not get off windows XP (or use linux ) computer technology cannot continue to evolve. The current computer architecture supports a max of 4 GB of memory. That is not just RAM it includes all kinds of memory. Some Vista users may have noticed that they have 4 GB RAM in their system and only 3GB is available. (This is not a vista flaw) This is because they have other memory taking up space (graphics cards). It doesn't matter what kind of memory it is, in the 32bit system you can have 4GB MAX. If anyone is pushing new operating systems it is the cpu makers. Some of you may not realize but your CPU was designed for 64BIT. The popular intel core 2 duo processor is a 64 bit processor that most people use for 32 bit. Vista ships with both a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version. Ubuntu linux has a 64 bit version and I am sure other distributions do as well. Like it or not winxp 64bit will never be supported as much as vista 64 bit. So eventually you will have to upgrade like it or not. Like i said, everyone complained about XP all those years ago and now we are simply going through the cycles once again. By the way I don't actually have vista on my home computer and I prefer to use linux. So this is not biased.
I am not against Vista - I even tried out the ultimate edition XP has been perfected and there is no real reason to switch...
I personally dont like vista's look at all. I think the sidebar and everything look horrid :\ XP anyday
I accept change, and have used windows vista. I still prefer windows XP. Why? Mainly because there are way to many kinks and flaws in vista that they have been working to fix. I don't plan on getting vista until they make a service pack of some sort to make up for having to update the literally hundreds of updates. Until the new technology is actually good and useful, without to many annoying flaws (there will always be some) I wont use it. End of story.
What about this. Please read. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/pos...-resist-vista-back-to-the-future-with-xp.html
XP Still works for me. No need to change. Maybe will try some Open Source solution in the near feature.
I´m posting this using a Laptop from my Wife job. This is a (BRAND NEW just 2 weeks) Acer Dual Core T2080 1.7Ghz with 512MB RAM and you know.... Vista Home Premium. I cannot install any software like Firefox etc because this is not ours. Man this thing is horrible, painful slow, I want to throw it against the wall. Just using IE7 alone, Vista consumes almost all the available RAM (around 478MB). There is no way you can be productive using 512MB with Vista.
Two. If you understand anything about business sometimes companies spend money on things that are not needed for the company to prosper but are needed for the employees moral. A prime example is installing a gym or kitchen. It builds up moral among workers. Its the same thing when companies do renovations. Vista not only provides better security (which up to now you have not been able to prove otherwise) but its also a change.
I like Windows Vista very much and used the business version. It's the best windows ever. I never experienced crashs and the Design is very nice. I actually use XP, however, because of my Soundcard, which doesn't work well under vista - the digital outputs don't work.. ~
Microsoft usually takes a year to get the bugs sorted out in a new version of Windows. So I will wait until then.
