Well, good luck the day a virus comes your way. No, buying a new system with Vista would not cost me $800 dollars. I buy Dell latitude laptops which cost about £1500 GBP when decently speced! As I said, both my laptops can run Vista perfectly but it doesn't mean I want to waste resources.
Couse i had to spent like 50 hours to install it , thats why i dont like and it it slower than XP plus not many pgros work on my Vista 64bit :/
Remember I have antivirus on my computer. Its just not third party antivirus. By the way Vista has given me a list of all the potential bugs and worms that have tried to destroy my computer and its well over 1000 at the moment.
No, you don't. Why do you think Microsoft have their own security suite, if Vista doesn't need it? You have some basic spyware protection and that's it.
I think this comes down to an odd vendetta against Microsoft. When XP first came out everyone said it was horrible, etc. Then a few months later having an OS other than XP was unheard of (besides die hard Linux fans). I feel this is basically the same situation. Everyone will call it crap, then everyone will use it.
Windows always had its own antivirus software.....Windows Firewall is an example. Vista makes third party antivirus obsolete. All in all Vista is a step in the right direction. Best OS yet. Can't wait till Vienna in '09
Windows "Firewall" isn't "antivirus" software. Anyway, how come Microsoft are selling anti-virus software if Vista doesn't need it?
I said I have Windows Defender which is a preinstalled antivirus. Of course Microsoft has 1 Care and I have tried it out on both my XP and Vista machines. It works good and I use it for my XP machine. But for my Vista machine I see not the need at the moment. I might install one later if they come out with a real bad bug that is affecting Vista but so far none have arises.
"Unfortunately, the big Maser(ati) is diminished by its dimwitted and jerky sequential-manual gearbox." -Car and Driver, review of the 2007 Maserati Sounds like Vista to me.....
Well thats mostly because of 64bit, the same would be with 64bit xp. I myself love Vista. My only problem with it is that its a bit pricey retail. So i just bought it oem
One word: Hog. XP runs perfectly and I haven't found ONE reason to upgrade (or i must say downgrade lol)
Some versions of Vista are great, and run on a fast computer I dont find it slow, and the lookis better, but I dont know...
I was merely pointed out that your reference to Windows Firewall is irrelevent. Actually, Microsoft One Care is crap. You read any review and you'll see what I mean. They're whole aim is to suck as much money from us as possible. It would not make sense for them to give the same service whether or not you buy extra software? Even microsoft don't believe that Vista needs no anti-virus.
Downngrade, LOL. I guess it is true if most of us used Vista it would be a downgrade. Our computer would slow down to a crawl.
Microsoft is taking preventative action and I agree with that. Vista does not need much antivirus protection at the moment but wait till someone finds a whole in the code. Are you going to wait till then to take action? Have you used 1 Care before? I'm not saying it is perfect but generally inhouse support is better then out of house support and that is also true in this case.
No, I would just admit that my OS isn't perfect an install an anti-virus from the start. I haven't used One-Care before, but i've read reviews of it. The general conclusion is that it is cobbled together as quickly as possible to meet release dates. Inhouse support is normally better in most things, but this isn't the case here. Microsoft haven't done anti-virus before and this means they haven't quite got it right.
