Vista is all aboiut good appearances......but "beauty is skin deep"-remember it....the main concern is performance......"slow and steady wins the race" doesn't work in computers.....you require 1gb ram and a fast processor for it... what about those computers with lesser ram and slower processors...win xp is much better..........but if you are interested in appearance, count on desktop transforming softwares like windows blinds
I sent back a brand new top of the range laptop with Vista installed. 1.) Wouldn't consistently connect to our LAN without contantly fiddling with settings which is ridiculous for users who aren't computer savvy. 2.) Software compatibilliy issues 3.) Hardware compatibility issues. 4.) CPU usage problems when running for more than an hour or so. All in all a total pain and not worth the effort for a nice looking window. Sticking with XP until they get it sorted out.
Most people should hold off on upgrading to Vista. I would even "downgrade" a new PC if it had Vista installed. Although I am running Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, it's been nothing but frustrating. I've managed to get *most* thing running properly. Some of the most annoying things that are not still working is printing from Acrobat 8, and wireless USB drivers. Forget about using WPA2-Personal or anything other than WEP encryption. Everytime I try to use WPA2, my system Bluescreens. Nice. But oddly enough, I've had less problems running games. For example WoW, Supreme Commander, Titan Quest, and lots of other games run without any problems. Weird.
Yeah I've noticed a lot of people bashing Vista. I've never actually tried it out for myself, though.
I use Windows XP Professional and like it just fine. My system was running strong for 2 years without a format until my hard drive crashed recently :/ I've heard too many people bitch and complain that Vista this or Vista that. It's new and it just isn't compatible with everything yet and has it's issues. What's wrong with XP? No eye candy? It's pretty damn stable I'll tell you that much. I don't go on the computer to watch how pretty it is.
I got it the day it was released, the Home Premium version and love it. Only issue I have had was the sound and got a new sound card and it works great. Mine does run faster, has no crashes and just works nice. Everyone complained when XP came out too so people that complain about it are always gonna be there. I started with Windows 3.0 and will say...you've come a long ways baby!!
I had to install it because I need to test things on it but I don't use it unless I have to. It's all unnecessary eye candy to me. And is it really an improvement to hide the menus unless you press the Alt key, and the new file dialogs make it much harder to navigate from one place to another. Then a message popped up and said I was using an illegal version, just because I'd forgotten to activate it. Believe me, if I didn't need to use Windows for professional reasons I'd have switched to Linux a long tome ago.
Very interesting, that people still having problem with Windows Vista. I have bought a Desktop last month with windows Vista installed. And first 2 days i was like ahh, windows Xp is much better and blah blah, but after using couple of weeks, Now i fall in love with Vista. I would not go back with Xp anymore. But yeah its true, Vista eat up lots of memory up to 500 MB. but hey these days nobody using a pc under 1GB memory. so yeah i still didnt have any problem with Hardware or Software. I'm totally happy with Vista. just an review from me.
There is nothing that Vista offers over XP that I'm interested in. Also, there are plenty of programs that I use that are not yet compatible with Vista. It's simply a case of not fixing what isn't broke. Perhaps Microsoft should have crippled XP a little more to force more converts to Vista, it seemed to work for them in the past.
In my opinion... Windows: Any ordinary user/mix of almost everything. Linux: Usually a developer/coder/programmer. Mac: Usually a designer/3D/multimedia. They all have different tastes and like us humans. P.S, hackers target Windows more than any OS. That's why people say their OS is more secure than any other one.... http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp
For me Windows Vista is most secured than XP. I use Windows Vista right now and i have no problems at all. Btw. all hardware in my computer has vista's drivers for download. Better security, advanced technology, better fragmentation and much other advanced stuffs is reason why i have choose Win Vista as my main OS. Bad compatibility is only problem, but after first Service Pack, Vista will be much more popular and better.
Vista looks a lot better than XP but the 20 minutes it takes to start and turn off are getting on my nerves. Most programs don't work well on Vista either..
I hope Microsoft employees read our forums and takes notes on why there operating system sucks. Nobody is buying there OS that is why SP1 is just a marketing tool to see if people will start buying Vista.
And you really think that's going to happen? They are a corporation and crappy social engineering like yours won't hurt them a bit. http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp Take a look... You will see that Vista is sightly rising, and all the other Windows are slightly decreasing. Linux decreased a bit, but will probably rise again sooner. The Mac is increasing steadily too. Want to know why people choose Windows over any other OS? Because they don't want to argue and waste their damn time with fanboys like us. They just want to get a computer that works, get their job done, and that's it. They don't bother with the crappy things we care about... They just want to get on with their lives and finish work. And we're here still arguing... If you don't like Windows, or another OS, use an alternative or make your own. (Haha, make your own... xD)
No one was buying XP either soo much for that? Vista is a better OS and one thing I never knew was apparently from what I'm told it's tablet support is way way better. By that I mean it actually has way better usability and it actually recognizes writing a lot better. I've also been running Vista on one of my machines without issue. Of course my computer scores the highest performance rating on every category so maybe that's why it works well.
I am using my vista for a week now and love it...It is faster than xp for me.....of course looks cool....
