It's the normal "better the devil you know" syndrome. It needs a hell of a lot of RAM and hten you need more for your apps/games so I'll stick to XP for now - until I lay my hands on a cool DirectX10 game that is
Vista is pointless, I wouldnt get me started on the subject I have wrote quite a lot about how i hate Vista, it was the main reason why I turned to Ubuntu Linux, much better alternative and without the ridiculous price tag. I think the main reason why people dont like Vista is because we expected so much more than the buggy operating system that is slow unless you run one hell of a machine. I prefer XP out of all the operating systems, i think they got it about right with XP SP2, they should have built it on that instead of trying to build a brand new operating system that would be the *best* (lol) OS available. Apart from the eye candy which you can get on most linux machines nowadays its just rubbish. I used it for months, I then started using Ubuntu, then opened up my PC which had it on again and I couldnt do anything for like 7 minutes because it was loading all the crap that vista comes with. Guys just stick with XP until they fix it, maybe Figi will go somewhere to solve the problems. But maybe it is time to look for alternatives!
This month’s batch of patches from Microsoft includes six bulletins covering at least 15 vulnerabilities, including several critical code execution holes in Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7. http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=292
Not really against it, just don't feel like upgrading..And I have 1gb of ram, not sure if its worth it..
1gb of memory just for the Operating System? Not against it just have common sense to know that an OS should not hog that much resources.
Im not against vista, its just that i prefer XP because i can theme it the way i want, and the only thing that calls my attention from vista is the nice skin it comes with. For me, XP has better interface and is faster.
well its not only how it loads but the bugs it contains. All technology have bugs and glitches and people are finding it anoying and dont like it.
For eyecandy, Ubuntu+Beryl blows Vista away. Oh, and for overall performance, Ubuntu blows Vista away.
I will not change to Vista unless I really HAVE To. I'm fine with XP, I do not need a OS filled with DRM.
I love windows vista. my new pc came with it and I am still in awe with its beauty and I got it in mid February. I still like Xp but prefer Vista so much more.
Have used Ubuntu, XP, 98, Vista, and a Mac. And i have to say i think Vista is great. Speed is good, appearance is a big improvement over xp, usability is much much better, ease of use is good - wireless/router setup etc is much improved over xp. Initial problems were the availability of drivers (Although these are mostly out now - and much improved over xp), and compatibility of programs, but new program update are slowly making these problems less and less. Overall, i think a large amount of people complaining are people who don't think they should need to upgrade to run a new operating system (which is stupid as technologies improve with time). Also many complaints about the price. Which also is nonsense. This is an operating system, try comparing prices with applications such as photoshop, dreamweaver etc. Overall, the upgrade of computer and upgrade to vista is the best move i could have made. Has saved me hours of more efficient computer use over xp on a slower system.
I agree totally, I use Ubuntu and Beryl and it has never let me down, it runs smoothly and the eye candy is great, the only thing Vista has is the eye candy, but they still dont even have wobbly windows and a rotating desktop.
Until Vista resolved all the bugs and problems within the software, until then I'll stick to my good 'ol Windows XP SP2
Faster ?? Guess, the version I used was specifically modded to run Slow in that case . ~G Shift to the -nix world ppl, you'll never regret.
