Why are the backlinks to my website decreasing?

    Hello
I need some advice on back links.
I started a website and after couple of months i got 430 back links pointing to my website (according to web grader and yahoo). A lot of backlinks came from blog comments and social media. After couple of weeks when i stopped working on the website back linking, it decreased to 280 and after couple of weeks to 140.
Now it is stable at 140 and does not increase or decrease. Can any one tell me why my back links have been decreasing?

    Thanks

    Hello

    1. A page on another site has a link pointing to you and this page gets shut down? deleted?
    2. The page is archived, resulting sometimes in the link being taken down.
    3. I've seen also were engines identifiy whether this is a link or not.

you have to continue gathering more quality links.. since you are not in control of all of your backlinks..

Yeah! you should keep trying to develop and go for more new backlinks! it is mostly because some of unreliable websites dont posses to give long time backlinks factors

thats the nature of the backlinks, they decrease over time. either google dont find the links anymore or they have been deleted. sometimes when you post a blog comment or submit an article to a blog, it shows up on the front page which is easier for google to crawl. but when it gets archived or moves to inner pages, google cannot find those links anymore where they were before. not all inner pages on all domains get crawled so over time you get less and less backlinks. idea is to keep building links so that you dont have such issue. some good quality links will be there forever but low quality links will decrease over time
