Why are small images taking time on VPS server?

    I am currently with an expensive VPS host with 512 MB Ram guaranteed, though at times my site loads slow, I have tested the site on pingdom, and small 1kb images take 3 seconds to load?

    Does this point to a problem with the server?
    Is it a cpu, ram or io problem or something else?

    I have attached pingdom and a server stat image

    This is Apache problem. you need to optimize Apache for static content.
    if you have large number of objects on your web page its Apache that causes problem. Hire some good server expert to do such task. if speed is very essential criteria for users the you can also use LiteSpeed Web Server

    I hired Platinum server management, and was told that my host is limiting or throttling performance, and that litespeed is not required.

    Do you think this is possible?
