Why are proxy's so cheap?

Looking in the websites for sale section, it seems proxy's are selling for at most 2X their monthly income.

Personally i remember a few years ago when you could sell a proxy for 10X-12X its monthly revenue quite easily.

I was therefore wondering why people pay so little for proxys?

Is it because the visitors dont return to the website much?
Because there are alot of proxys about??
The income flucuates at certain times of the year?
    Proxys are easy to build?
Proxys are what they are, and cant really be expanded?
    CTR is low?
Businesses and schools ban proxys regularly so loose traffic quickly?

This is just a peice of market research for a potential business idea.

    Thanks

You might as well explain yourself after making that comment. What do u mean by it? What aspects are so bad? The proxy scripts? The websites? The ease of making them?

There are a few reasons why the value has gone down. Mainly because there is less demand for them because as correctly said above, schools and businesses keep banning them. Proxy related names are worth more in general than ones that say "proxy" because they are usually instantly banned so there is a limit on the amount of traffic the site can get.

If you want a smart domain name for a proxy then you want something that says "bypass" in instead because they aren't blocked.

Well you've answered to your question yourself. There are millions of them (easy to make), visitors don't return to them that often, income also fluctuates and etc.

    nope
sure you could have returning visitors for your proxies

although you dont have to work that much for proxies_like you do on your blogs_
they just need a powerful host , VPS or even private server
and after promoting your proxies you could have some extra $$$a month

    so proxy=easy money
but trying to sell them ,that would be so cheap cause the buyer should provide the expensive hosting and other resources like SSL certification

I have to agree with easy money. Because you don't have to put much effort in to it, but if you do your earnings may skyrocket ;)

Some of the people who are selling proxies actually want to make a quick bucks.
They just start a proxy a few days or weeks, promote them like crazy and flip them hoping that they can get a big bucks. People who are doing this makes the proxy market dropped thus other people questioning why would you want to sell your proxy at 10x revenue when there is people who are selling it for 2x revenue.

Proxy sites do not last very long, probably a few months typically and if you are lucky longer. Besides it is increasingly hard to find a web host which would allow proxy hosting and those who do may be expensive because of the bandwidth which you would typically expect to pay. Ads like Adsense typically cannot be used on a proxy site. The fear is that people use a proxy site to surf illegal contents and since your IP address shows up on the site, it may be deemed that you are the one surfing them.
