Why are proxy sites popular? Do they make a lot of money?

Can anyone tell me how proxy sites are profitable? How do you set up one if you want to make one? I am eager to know about the proxy site market.

you can;t make money with proxies . but you can promote proxy and after you get more than 1K uniq/Day . you can park it and earn a lot of money !

 

adsblog, thats totally wrong, of course you can make money with proxies. But it require some work.

 

Adsense = Money
Proxy = High Traffic if advertised correctly

You basically set up hosting, a nice proxy template, advertise it heaps, start a network and then you'll get rich

I reckon hosting is most important issue.

 

anyone can have personally idea about proxies. this is my idea !
you can have different idea ...
if you can create a site with usefull content better than create proxy .

 

You also have to be unique, and have a domain that doesn't have the word 'proxy' in it as filters will block it.

Ya, and if you don't have a top-of-the-line dedicated server, then you'll run into a lot of hosting problems... Proxies take up and use up a lot of server space. So, if you want to succeed, make sure you're ready for the server fees.

 

lol . i can make money with proxies. but that's little !
i need more money ... now i earn more than 5 $ /day from adsense . but i park all domains of network on sedo and redirect visitors to sedo .
i earn 12 $ / 1 Day .
note : if i park it on other parking sites ( like parked.com ) earning will increase to 20-25 $ . i'm sure !

yes of corse and unlimited bandwidth=a lot of money
but since adsense is it no problem

 

but i think you can have a good network with unlimit bandwith and pay low money ( ) . now i have a VPS ( unmanaged ) for 5 Euro / Month with 384 M b RAM and Unmetered BW .

They're profitable because they're popular and they're popular because a lot of people want their privacy. Also, most proxy sites have ads all over the place and a bunch of pop ups, so I assume people are clicking. On some proxy sites i've seen they tend to bunch their ads very close to key spots and so they get a lot of accidental clicks as well.

 

Hi again adsblog. $5 a day is money if you have 50 proxies.
But why do you park them on Sedo if you get more on parked.com ?
And how do you get visitors to visit the sedo parked domain for a long period ?

 

Yeah, adsblog is right, you can't make money with proxies, as a matter of fact I don't recommend that anyone should try it.

yea ! you can use PHPproxy (free) , CGIProxy ( Free ) , Zelune ( Free )

i know you trusted member in DP and you have more experience about making money !
1 because i was have an account in parked and now it suspended . opening new account in parked is against TOS .
2 promot domain on Sedo categories .
i park proxies domain just for 1 day/ week and 6 day / week proxies will be online .

 

Another fact is usually proxy sites webmaster own a network and they can "redirect" their visitors from site A to site B. Proxy sites are easy to manage but you will need a good hosting plan ( prefer dedicated server or VPS ). I have seen a lot of sites using a script which can detect if a visitor uses a proxy server by scanning the headers returned by the user client. When the user uses a proxy server, most of the proxy servers alter the header. The header is returned to PHP in the array $_SERVER.

 

It could be a problem if you're not generating enough revenue from your proxy.

 

There is certainly money to be made. Get a good server and start growing your network!
