PR is important when you own a website in a competitive niche. You will have a better ranking in the SERPS if you are competing for certain keyword terms.
Good page relevance is what gives you good rankings, PR to me means squat. I'd rather rank from a good page with relevant unique content than a higher PR page with non-relevant or dupe content, but that is just me. I suppose PR has its uses, but it rarely has to do with ranking imo.
Higher PR mean many quality site vote on you. It mean that your website is quality website if you have high PR, that's the reason
I just like seeing a high PR and as I always say, I've never seen a weak performing PR 8 site; so it goes hand in hand with traffic/quality
serps, traffic conversions and money but whilst on the subject anyone notice the internal pagerank update last night by the way?
No wonder why they have the #1st position. Their whole site is dedicated to the subject with keyword rich content and they have #1000+ backlinks among which there are multiple PR 2,3,4, and even 5 links. So perhaps they'll get their PR with the next PR update.
Didnt read the whole thread, But PR helps in SERP'S and also can improve the price of your site if you was to sell
He would have PR - unless his site is penalized .... just because you don't see it within your bar - does not mean that the site is PR-less .... the bar updates every 3 to 4 months but PR it changes regularly .... have a look in your web master tools at the PR of your pages and sites .... you will see a graph of PR Low, Medium and High I think are within the charts - then the percentage of pages within the ranges .... and these update weekly.
Good Backlinks=Good SERPS and Good Backlinks=Good PR therefor Good PR=Good SERPS (along with some other factors)
So it seems PR has absolutely nothing to do with good rankings, or at least that's what I'm being told here and am reading on the internet. I wonder if google has mentioned at all if PR is important and what exactly it is. PR is easily manipulated. I read somewhere that if you get like a couple thousand PR 1 links to your site, you will increase by 1 PR. I guess it just tells you how good your doing. I also saw that your PR can be negatively affect by websites with No PR. and there are tons of websites without any.
Why Are People So Concerned With Pr? Because so many other people are concerned with PR. Follow the crowd, be part of the heard... ....Moooooo.
PR is not important. Having a popular website will get you a high PR, but having a high PR will not get you a popular website.
Because people understand a scale of 1-10 much more easily than they could all the factors that go into SERPS. It's just so easy to see PR4 and go, "I have PR4!" than to worry about SERPS, traffic, conversions, keywords, yadda yadda. I don't think I would turn down any PR8-9-10 links, but I wouldn't bet that a PR5-6 site outranks a PR2-4 for terms, just based on the size of a little green bar.
PR is important on SERP. The higher PR usually gets the higher position. Some people are using pr to sell links.
I think the main reason people are concerned with PR is because it affects advertising rates and link trading possibilities... Even though the PR that we see is not the same PR that google sees it is still an important aspect of web design and gives your site a lot more credibility. Plus, PR keeps me working hard... Even if it does not matter as much as most people think, it sure encourages me to work harder to building links, etc.... When otherwise, I may just sit back and do nothing.
