This is such a newbie question and I feel stupid not knowing how to remedy the situation.. How do you keep your file sizes small? Surely not everyone who uploads videos online are compressing their files, are they? Every time I record a video on my webcam or my tablet , the size of the file is around 200+ MB for a 10 min video! On my webcam, I can't change the resolution and changing the size doesnt help much at all. This is soo frustrating. I cant upload videos on Fiverr or on Facebook chat because the files are so huge. Ive even downloaded video compressig software and it never reduces the size enough. What am I doing wrong???
My computer webcam (built in) puts it into .avi and the size of a 7 min 38sec video is 4.04 GB! The resolution is 640x480. It's even too big when I choose the only other resolution option, 320x240. I'm using the Crystal Eye webcam on an Acer.
Holy shit lol.. are you converting it to h264? http://blogs.it.ox.ac.uk/adamweblea...files-without-losing-quality-using-handbrake/ really not entirely sure why that would not do the trick. Nigel
I don't know what h264 is..., I was trying to change it to mp4 or anything else really..smallest it gets is 40 mb.
Any idea WHY this keeps happening? It happens on my Samsung tablet, too. I don't think everyone online who uploads videos runs into this. I want to get to the root of the problem..I don't want to have to convert every file multiple times, ya know what I mean? It's such a pain in the ass!
Not exactly but h264 is inherently smaller than mp4 last I checked so I would give that a whirl. For instance an avi in xvid wrapper is like 350 megs for a tv show rip. x264 is typically half of that. Its hard to say with out having it front of me but 4 gig files are hard to shuffle around lol.. I am about to fall over from exhaustion but drop it into gspot and let us know what the bitrate and framerate is. I will try to pop back in and take a look. http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Nigel
Here is a link to a screenshot of the info from Gspot..not sure where to find the framerate or bitrate.. http://img.makeupalley.com/3/6/1/5/2527941.GIF
