I have submitted my website sitemap to Google Search Console. There are at least 35+ posts on my site right now. At least a week ago, I submitted the site map. But still, my site posts are not indexed! Why? When I go to Google Search Console, I can see that only two pages have been indexed! I even manually submitted the urls of a few posts to be indexed. Please advise someone experienced. What else should I check?
Robots.txt Block: Ensure that your robots.txt file isn’t blocking Google from crawling your site. You can check this file by visiting yourdomain.com/robots.txt. Noindex Tag: Verify that your posts don’t have a <meta> tag with noindex in their HTML source. This tag tells search engines not to index the page. New Content: If the posts are new, it may take some time for Google to crawl and index them. Be patient as indexing can sometimes take days or even weeks. Technical Issues: Look for any technical issues that might prevent crawling. This includes server errors, slow loading times, or other site errors. Sitemap: Make sure you have an XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console. This helps Google discover your pages more efficiently. Crawl Errors: Check Google Search Console for any crawl errors that might be affecting indexing. Quality of Content: If your content is deemed low quality or duplicative, Google may choose not to index it. Ensure your content is original, valuable, and meets Google's quality guidelines. Thin Content: Pages with very little content (thin content) may also be overlooked by Google for indexing. Backlinks: Having backlinks from other reputable sites can help Google discover and index your pages faster. Manual Action: Check if your site has received any manual action from Google. If so, you will need to address the issues outlined. Domain or Hosting Issues: Check if your site is experiencing downtime or other hosting issues that could impede indexing. Use Fetch as Google: Within Google Search Console, use the "URL Inspection" tool to fetch your URL. This can help you see if Google can access your posts and whether they can be indexed.
First, make sure no crawl errors or penalties are affecting your site in the Google Search Console. Also, consider reviewing your content for quality and relevance, as Google favors sites with valuable information and good user experience. Lastly, promoting your posts through social media or backlinks can help signal to Google that your content is worth indexing.
