I have submitted my new travel blog to over more than 200 directories in the past month.I have submitted in free links category. But none of the backlinks show up when check for the same using siteexplorer.search.yahoo.comWhat can be the problem? Were those all the directories no follow? What can i do now?
Yahoo reports most links, including nofollow links. It could be that Yahoo has just not found those links yet. Directory links are typically some of the least effective links. When a website links to thousands of other websites, they can only pass on so much link juice. A lot of those directories may not have approved your link yet. When a directory offers both free and paid submission, the free submission wait time is often 2+ months. Work at building more quality links instead of just relying on directories. Your DP signature is a perfect spot to gain hundreds of one way links. Also try article submissions, press releases, niche directories, blog commenting, social bookmarking, etc.
I think if the page which the backlink is parked on remains static for too long the site explorer removes it from the list.
Yes, signature links from relevant forums are still an excellent way to boost your ranking for your targeted keywords. But no one know how long they will last and when Google starts discounting them.
My backlinks don't show up for directories either, so I don't bother with them anymore. michael221 - Has Google officially announced they will be discount forum sigs, or is it just speculation?
Google probably showing very few of backlinks, however, Yahoo! have a good backlink rate scale so you might wanna check them as well.
When you use link: command in google, do your other backlinks show up? If so, how long did it take for your backlinks to appear?
