Why are moderators powerless to edit or delete posts?

Some tool decided to link out to our site and say that people can buy links there for $6 for life.

I requested that the link be removed so that bots could not create any connection between our site and the practice of selling links.

Apparently this is a "big NO NO"

But why? The only reference I can find to Digital Point's capacity to remove links is in the terms when signing up, where it clearly says:

"The owners of Digital Point Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason."

I am in the exact same situation and i would do anything to get 2 tiny insignificant threads (also selling links) removed. It's not like my threads and most likely yours are important threads to DP (who would even notice the difference? surely regular visitors wouldn't dig up old/dead threads nor look at them at all) and it's not like DP would lose anything from it.

I sent a PM to crazy_rob (admin) but am yet to get a reply.

Get used to it.....unless it affects DP directly....you will most likely not get action...maybe a response if pushed...

It does affect DP directly. I've been a member here for 4 years and would have recommended them to new webmasters. Not any more.

We do not delete things on request. Once it's posted, as long as it doesn't break the actual forum rules, consider it permanent.

We get literally dozens of requests to delete threads/posts each day.

    a) we don't have the time
    b) it can cause problems for other members
    c) it could potentially help scammers

You would be well-served to just assume posts are permanent unless you own the site. And think about that before you make the post or create the thread.

But I guess it's just easier to blame other people for your mistakes.
