Hello DP Member, I would like to learn more about all the discussion behind having links from different IPs - Is that necessary to implement in the link building policy very strictly. Are Links from Different Domains enough or Link need to be coming from different IPs also ??? I request all DP SEO gurus to provide insight on this issue. Thanks. NT
IPs are specific locations(computers) IP blocks are a neighborhood of locations. If all of the links to your site are coming from the same location or neighborhood, it can be a red flag to the SEs that these links are all created unnaturally by the same person/organization. This is because most web hosts are assigned an IP block that they can use to serve webpages. If a webhost creates a million websites and starts pointing links to a website they want to promote - each of these links will be coming from the same IP block. If the SE is aware that these links are all coming from sites that are in the same IP block, they may devalue these links. I hope that helps.
That's why I have a host and I have 16 different IP addresses on 3 separate C class ranges so search engines have a harder time determining that they all belong to me. Having them on separate C class ranges helps as well as just being diffferent IPs. If you have 20 websites on the same IP address, search engines will know you own them and give little to no value to the linkbacks. different IPs == different owners.
Thanks for the information Bilz and Fsmedia, Is it accepted to have say 100 links from some different IPs ..where a block of about 10 -15 are coming from the same c-class ?? Well ultimately its the question of hosting your sites on different IPs and thats a choice i can make if i am aware of this fact !! Isnt it ? Thanks. NT
