Well Marketing may have lead to the evolution of .info set. But is a .info domain as good as a .com domain for the search engine if both have good and unique content.??
The answer is technically 'yes' although I don't believe it. I can't remember the last time I have ever seen a .info appear on a 1st page SERP.
In fact .info isn't cheaper than .com domain (its price is the same with .com reg fee). What your are seeing now it is a promotional period for .info The same is for .me, .mobi, .co.uk, .us etc....
To my knowledge .info domain names are very cheap compared to .com and .co.uk domain names. I don't believe that .info domains affect your SEO.
I also don't believe that .info domains affect your SEO. The reason why it's cheap is because it's a long extension and it's a pain to type it especially typing .mobi on a touch screen cellphone.
why its bad for seo my top alexa ranked ( 45K ) is a .info my pr4 domain is a .info my few good sales are .info
nothing wrong with .info's if they are developed properly It does however depending what you want to use it for everyone always says its bad for seo but have you ever seen one of em explain why they say that ? and its length or typin in ability plays no part there is plenty of long named .info's out there i wouldnt mind owning. peoples perceptions on .info means they are beat before they start and google dont penalise you just because you have a .info thats a pure myth. write original content use the domain wisely no duplicate content etc and do seo correctly with non bh methods w3c validate and you will see no problems
Mate you may want to ead the posts above for your views. Or do you have some strong and reasonable point in support of your views. Well there have been lots of reviews and it seems that .info has no drawback except the fact that its a little long. I'll be looking to register some .info domains now. If anyone has something to say, please feel free. Thanks everyone.
Personally I believe that if the content is relevant and serves your viewers needs they will not really care if it is .info or .com Obviously there is some importance/value placed on .com just the same as an address in Wall Street. However that does not mean one cannot create their own Vegas in the middle of nowhere if it suits the people who go there. It's what you make of it and what your long term plans are. .com is probably the best bet, but not the only one
Well, the well known PR Checker is a .info: http://prchecker.info/ and it ranks excellently for "pr checker" and is a PR8.
most people are buying .info's because right now its a cheap option planning to maybe use them for setting up a cheap and nasty site that may even be related to spam for the year and dropping it ,register it for two years + if your serious in developing it. Problem people have they dont have a clue how to do seo they buy a cheap domain as thats what they can afford do a few links then scratch their head wondering why there are not in top 1000 let alone top 100 but cant afford to pay someone to do the work I have placed many .info's on front page on google depending your competition will mean how hard you need to work at it .info or .com it does not really matter to me i will gladly work with both
I totally agree with you mate. This is what i have been wondering. So this means that investing in .info domains won't be a bad idea.
.info is cheap... You can even buy .coms and .nets for 1$ which is actually cheaper than .info which is 1.08( + ICAAN ). So its not that only .info's are cheap
.info domains are used for information related sites. Though stil, most sites use .com which menas commercial, even if they're not commercial sites as it is more well remembered.
