Hello everyone, I was planning on buying a new domain name and have found that .info domains are available and costs way less than usual .com and .net domains.

Will anyone please suggest me Which categories and best for .info domains and is the effort required is more in case of .info domains???

    Thanks to everyone in advance.

.com is the most wanted TLD, .info is not used that much.
That's why they are cheaper than .com
Why they are so cheap? I wonder too ...

Well i feel as they are cheap they are often used for spamming but i ould like to know:
If I register a .com and a .info domain at the same time, work on both of them at the same rate, and try to rate them in SERP.
So will Search engines give equal weightage to both of them or not?
If the answer is "NO", then why??

Thats probably because they are so cheap. If they were more expensive they would not be associated with spam...

    Not true.

.name is more expensive then .com
Does that mean .name is the most wanted TLD?

.info is a spammy tld in my opinion, there's not that much demand so i guess that explains the price.

This is not about info domain and the Spam correlation. It is depends on users to use it. The info domain is cheap because it just come to the market, considered as new compared to com / net / biz / org. They are new and their extension is 4 characters (info) which is hard to recognize or remember by regular visitors, visitor that are not a technical geek anyway. That's why all domain registrar pricing info domain for cheap, just to drive sales purpose.

However, since it is a very cheap one, that's why many info domain have associated with spam websites. I also have some info domain for a test bed purpose either, but not any spam websites of course. :)

I think the cost of renewal is not cheap though.
I think the cheap price attracts a lot of buyers then the money is made in the second year with the renewal fee.
Feel free to correct me if you disagree.

The extension is 4 characters long.
"Info" is a non-sense word in the Internet world.
I mean... you use the Internet to get some informations right?

As well as many of the ccTLDs, & you've got the .ki extention which is $1,000/year. Are those more wanted than a .com

All of these opinions are just speculations anyway. Getting .info I think won't automatically make your site a spam. Well, it's good thing that there is an .info domain so that we could have a cheap alternative. I think this is just part of marketing -- registrars want to provide cheap alternative to make more sales.

It's the promotion that the foundation that started .info set. A good marketing plan, considering that renewals are full price (that's what most people don't realize).
