So I have seen a lot of forums I don't mind for blogs if they are old and the content is still relevant that is fine but forums that are continuously filled with spambots, and there are a large number, and are all page 1 on google, WHY is this allowed? I thought penguin and panda were supposed to filter out low quality sites. Ok so the sites may be old and have good quality but if the moderators and site admins are just going to let the websites drift into oblivion and fill with spambots why should they continue to stick around at the top? And yes it is easy enough to stop spambots if you can actually be bothered. I don't care if you think its not the owners of the sites fault. It most certainly is, as it is their property they should have a responsibility to keep it clean from illegal and unethical content especially as a page 1 ranking site. If a shop let a load of rowdy kids with baseball bats run into their shop and smash all of the isles up that would not give them a good reputation so why is it any different on the internet?
just because a forum or blog has spam comments doesn't make it low quality. apple, adobe etc are high authority sites but spammers spam the hell out of them. will google filter out apple and adobe sites? NO! no algorithm will ever be perfect. thats why google makes around 500 algorithm updates each year
It's not a perfect update. Many people are leery about linkbuilding with the release of Google Penguin.
No update is perfect, that's right. But the query in the thread is also interesting. For spamming comments and back links forums are not penalized, than the update has something paradox! Good point however.
I guess we just found a loophole. I think that forums of this type are popular because there is still a lot of activity on it, rowdy or not.
