Why are Google NOT show my backlinks?

I have submitted articles to article directories which link to my website, but when I do a Google Backlink Check I seem to get nothing, even those articles that have been published.

Can someone explain to me what is going on? and if I can do anything to remedy the current situation I am circumventially finding myself and my systematically designated website in?

Please ignore the *BIG* words being used towards the finale of my post.

GG is always showing just very few backlinks in it's public search.
To have a more precise picture of the backlink situation, I would recommend to do a backlink search on yahoo
    http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=linkdomain%3Ayourdomainname.tld+-site%3Ayourdomainname.tld
    Code (markup):
You may consider registering your site at GG webmaster tools, which shows both external and internal links cached by google.

Hey, firstly search engines take time to crawl and index your backlinks. I would recommend, as Xaver has, to check in Yahoo as it gives more accurate results for backlinks.

I suggest you hold on for a bit , it usually takes time to get all this information updated. not so sure google does it often.
