Why are Country Results different from Google Main Results??

What I don't understand is why on google.no, google.cn, I'm up for many more keywords than on google.com...for example, just re-optimized a few pages and as results on google.cn and other country domains I see for some of these keywords that I re-targeted on 1st and 2nd page, but on google.com...nothing!

Someone told me competition, but I see that the number of results in these index is alot more, so I don't see how this makes any sense. Should I contact google about this problem? I can't find any help anywhere regarding someone experiencing a similiar issue..

    Please help! =)

I think country only take into account only sites hosted in that country or domain e.g co.uk, so there would be less pages than global.

Interesting, thank you. Why would a site hosted in usa be doing better in various countries then in .com index?

Maybe a site ranks well in co.uk if it has a lot of inbound co.uk links? Not sure, just a guess ...
