When I click on a advertiser (say Capital One) and then on apply program ... after I accept the terms &conditions it declines my request ... does anyone know why this is happening ???
Are you from USA? If not, chances is high. Most of the advertisers are from USA and they target only USA market.
yes im in the US ... and my account address is US ... but I use proxy servers on the internet ... so I have changing IPs ... could that be the issue
No, your IP has nothing to do with being auto declined. Some advertisers auto-decline all publishers using incentive programs, some auto-decline anyone under a certain number of earning bars (usually 3 or 4), some do it geographically.
The easiest answer is to just ask the advertisers. I've asked a few and some responses include: no privacy policy, not all sites in my accounts were accessible (a few of them were down b/c of server issues with some of my hosts)
Other reasons too... Each merchant has different approval criteria. Some will only accept affiliates with sites in thier niche or with certain levels of traffic. Sounds like you were automatically declined. If you are in US then it could be because you are not a high enough rated performer.
I got approved by Weight Watchers UK and yet I get auto disapproved by US Weight Watchers. Its so frustrating. Im in the UK but would love a crack at the US market.
Too funny! US affiliates wish they could get a crack at UK and UK affiliates wish they could get a crack at US. Just read a blog today at SearchEngineLand telling US affiliates how much easier the UK market is! The grass is always greener. On a related note, many US merchants are just uniformed and narrow minded when they only allow US affiliates. Some of the best affiliates are in the UK and Canada and can generate US traffic just as good as someone in podunk Iowa!
I am based in the Uk but i do affliate marketing in the US. i got turned down by a Us merchant and i emailed them why they turned me down. the answer was it was because i am in the Uk and if I misuse their trademark they will not be able to sue me. I emailed them back and told them its your loss. Surely thats overprotecting a brand, what would i do with a brand name. i just wanted to make them money and make my own money. its a bit sad in this day and age that some merchant still look at geography boundaries. Secondly some of the best paying merchant just seem to decline you. i applied for some UK ones which automatically reject me. Damn
you have to keep trying different ones. With a proxy you only get select ones you will not get the credit cards and many others. However you get all the people looking for love or friend type sites.... I gave up after getting 8
for what? to do not be auto declined? Why they would use you IP if they have your mailing address that is more accurate.
Well I guess that means I should be applying again to many merchants after having good earnings. About declining advertisers well I got approved by many US merchants but maybe I am working in a different niche.
Well said, Though I am not in UK/Canada but can easily geo target ads(showing affiliate ads to US visitors only) if they stop declining me. I have found some very complementing products for my site on CJ but alas... I may talk to them but than looks unlikely they will accept me even if I explain to them that about all this geo ad targeting..
I am based in Australia, I seem to be able to get approved for both US and UK markets. But some of the real big ones seem to not approve me, most probably because I only earn millions and not billions on my website. It would be nice if they said why they didn't approve it. After all isn't being an affiliate about making them money by extra sales?
