Why Are Bing Results Different From Google

For my keywords, I find Bing's top SERPS completely different from Google and Yahoo. My top search words will for example number 5 on Google and 25 on Bing. What criteria do they use to rank sites?

 

Yeah they are different, The reason to place your site in top for Google than other is SEO related to Google. Nowadays most of are targeting for Google ranking. It may be the reason. Anyway we need to find more about this new microsoft search engine.

I would hope they are different. Thats a function of the site being useful. If it gives the same results as Google why would anyone want to use another search engine. Besides if they used the same criteria and algorithms there would be some lawsuits

 

Becuase its Microsoft, Google would complain if they were the same.

 

Because bing has different algo.

They are using different algo, that's the reason

 

I don't fully understand Bing or should I say I barely understand bing, but what I do know is they absolutely love keywords in the url's. Especially in the domain name. I have sites that rank so high in bing for competitive keywords that have no reason to and it is just because the keywords in the domain. They don't appear in the top 50 in google but in top 3 of bing.

Actually on their webmaster blog they pretty much say as much.

 

It is natural for search results of different search engines to be different. Each try to devise their own formula to give the best results.
If they all dished out the same results, what would be the basis of existence of so many SE's instead of just one?

If keyword is the main factor then Bing has much similarities to Yahoo.

 

Evert search engine has their own seo algorithm so results are different on different search engines. For me I rank good for some of the keywords in bing and not in google but still google brings in more traffic.

 

the bing shows better results than google when you turn off that protection or what it is....on some keywords..

 

yeah, bing uses a totally different algorithm then google and yahoo. So you are bound to get different results.

 

I agree that every search engine have different source code to get the most suitable result for user. but if the user seems that is not what they search they will use another search engine or still use the same search engine with a different technique .. like boolean operator .. why bing result is diferrent? they must .. but I think the site with most relevant will pop out and get the higher position in all search engine. and the main purpose can we tweak it

 

honestly..keywords in the URL matter for Bing.. but dont leave meta tags behind as well as keyword rich content.. submit to bing if necessary..since except 4 microsoft no one can tell y a keyword ranks low, do all the possible optimization possible..

 

I think its pretty good if the results are different because if we dont find what we are lookign for on google, so at least Bing will be showing different and relevant search result.

It's clear more research is needed into what makes certain keywords perform better in Bing... Have you heard they are now going to be the default engine powering Yahoo! search results?! Apparently Yahoo! have not been offered a one off fee but instead it's going to be a revenue sharing deal...

 

Bing is really using some different algorithm that google.But still what I found is google result is more appropiate and relevant compare to Bing.

 

Some phrases are better in bing actually.
