Same article is usually submitted to many many article directories. But these article directories do not seem to be penalised or banned by Google. Does these mean Google "like" article directories?
lol tradester, that's a good question. I am sure there are article directories being penalized for having duplicate contents. And of course the editors will check the articles first before they approve it to be published on their directories.
Sorta makes you think the duplicate content penalty is a lagre urban myth doesn't it? Which in fact it is.
Urban myth? This is interesting to investigate. I will gather more research data regarding this myth, if it is.
Duplicate content is handled by google using filters. It's not a penalty. All the good article directories only accept unique content though.
I have tried submitting 'same' article to 500 directories once. I can still see around 100 directories in results when I look for the phrase in that article. They are not being penalized, but google is not showing all of them in results.
Google does not penalize for duplicate content after the article appears a certain amount of times google devalues it, but it's not a penalty.
I think in the eyes of G, article directories are "legit sites" due to it's regular update, "fresh contents" and lots of outbound links. These factors score out dupe contents.
Stories from AP, Reuters and other news agencies are syndicated to thousands of websites all over the world. Who will be penalized for the duplicate?
I am also confuse regarding this. I have used article syndication services where spin article is submitted to 500s article directory or more. When I show backlinks I never get all of them. In this tread some one state "I have tried submitting 'same' article to 500 directories once. I can still see around 100 directories in results when I look for the phrase in that article. They are not being penalized, but google is not showing all of them in results." I am agree with it. Google dont penalized duplicate content. What I think? If there is some website www.xyz.com and if someone else copy the content of home page and create 100s of pages with same content. Do u think Google will penalized that website? Duplicate content and stopping them is really hard.
It's probably less a matter of Google penalizing sites for showing duplicate content, and more a matter of them rewarding sites for showing fresh and unique content.
